Lab 01: Introduction to Cloud Environment
Introduction:
Google Cloud is a suite of cloud services hosted on Google's infrastructure. From computing and
storage, to data analytics, machine learning, and networking, Google Cloud offers a wide variety
of services and APIs that can be integrated with any cloud-computing application or project,
from personal to enterprise-grade. Students will familiarize themselves with the Google Cloud
Platform (GCP) environment. They will explore different features available in GCP.
Lab Objectives:
In this lab, students will learn about the following:
The lab platform, and how to identify key features of a lab environment
How to access the Cloud console with specific credentials?
Explore Google Cloud projects
How to use the Google Cloud Navigation menu to identify types of Google Cloud
services?
Basic roles, and use the Cloud IAM service to inspect actions available to specific users
The API library, and examine its chief features

Lab Task
1. You will receive an email from the teacher to redeem GCP credits. You should use your
university email address (domain: seecs.edu.pk) to redeem the GCP credits. Once the

credits are redeemed add a screenshot of the webpage here showing that you have
redeemed the credits.
2. Go through the link given above (under helping material) which will take you to the
‘Tour of Google Cloud Hands-on Lab’ page. You have to start the lab and perform the
tasks given below. Make sure to take screenshots of each task as you will need to add
them in the solution section given below.

The lab is graded between 0 to 10 marks. For some of the labs, students have to present their
solutions in a viva session. In case of any problems with submissions on LMS, you should
contact your lab engineer.
