crochet pattern by Altunina Svetlana

NOTES
Work in a continuous spiral, do not join rounds or turn your work, unless
instructed otherwise in the pattern.
Use a stitch marker or a piece of yarn to mark the end or the beginning of a
round. Move the marker up after completing each round.
All stitches are worked into both loops, unless instructed otherwise in the
pattern.
Make sure to crochet tightly enough to achieve a tight gauge that will not
allow the stuffing to show through the fabric. You can use the same pattern to
make larger or smaller toys by using finer or bulkier yarn. Make sure to pick a
crochet hook at least a size smaller than suggested on the yarn label and
crochet tightly enough to achieve a tight gauge that will not allow the stuffing
to show through the fabric. You may also need to adjust the size of the eyes.

MATERIALS NEEDED
1. Yarn YarnArt Jeans – colors light green (11), light brown (71), lilac (89), pink
(36)
2. Yarn Alize Cotton Gold Hobby – color light lemon (187)
3. Hook 2mm
4. Filler (holofiber, sintepon, etc.)
5. Eyes (half beads) d = 6 mm
6. Thin white and black threads for face decoration (Vita COCO or Iris)
7. Pink or red color artistic pastel
8. Clay Moment Crystal
9. Thick cardboard (we will insert this at the bottom of the flowerpot for
stability. You can replace it with a piece of plastic from which folders for
documents are made)
10. Cotton bud sticks
11. Weighting compound (for a flowerpot. Also, it can be a special weighting
material for toys, or a coin, a small pebble, etc.)
Size: When using these materials flower turns 16 cm (or 6.3 in) in height,
taking into account the length of the petals.
ABBREVIATIONS (US)
• st(s) = stitch(es).
• Sl st = slip stitch.
• ch = chain stitch.
• sc = single crochet stitch.
• inc = increase – crochet two single crochet stitches in the same stitch.
• dec = decrease – crochet two stitches together
• (sc 4, inc) x n = repeat the pattern between parentheses n times.
• (36) = number of stitches in a round after finishing round.
• BLO = crochet back loops only.
• FLO = crochet front loops only.
In fact, the whole flower is one part with a change of colors, with the
exception of the leaves and petals that we will sew.

Flowerpot.
We start crocheting with lilac yarn.
The base of the flowerpot is crocheted not in a spiral, but closing each row with sl
st. With this method, the row closes sl st, and then the new row begins with a chain
(I crochet 2 ch), which play the role of the first sc. For example, in the case of the
second row, first we crochet 2 ch, then sc in the same st (this will be the first
increase), the remaining inc in the row we crochet as usual (this is shown in the
photo ↓)
Why is this needed? With this method of crocheting, you get an even fabric, which
the spiral crochet method cannot boast of. Since even the same row at different
points is at different heights and you get a slight bias (you may have previously paid
attention to this). In this case, this skew is not suitable for us, since the bottom of the
flowerpot should be as stable as possible.
1 row: 6 sc in a magic ring (6)
2 row: inc * 6 (12)
3 row: (1 sc, inc) * 6 (18)
4 row: (2 sc, inc) * 6 (24)
The 5th row does not close with sl st, continue to crochet in a spiral rows.
5 row: BLO 24 sc (24)
6 row: 24 sc (24)
7 row: (7 sc, inc) * 3 (27)
8-9 row: 27 sc (27)
10 row: (8 sc, inc) * 3 (30)
11-12 row: 30 sc (30)
13 row: FLO (4 sc, inc) * 6 (36)
14 row: 2 sc, inc, (5 sc, inc) * 5, 3 sc (42)
Fasten and cut the thread.
Cut a circle from cardboard or plastic, the diameter of which is suitable for the base
of the flower pot. Put it to the bottom. Don’t stuff yet.
5
Land. Crochet with light brown yarn.
1 row: join the front stitches left after the 13th row and
crochet 30 sc (30)
2 row: (4 sc, dec) * 5 (25)
3 row: 25 sc (25)
4 row: (3 sc, dec) * 5 (20)
Start stuffing the flowerpot quite tightly. At the same stage
add weighting material for stability.
5 row: (2 sc, dec) * 5 (15)
6 row: (1 sc, dec) * 5 (10),
Do not close the loop, then continue to crochet the stem
with a light green yarn. Brown thread can be cut.
The stem of a flower (as a continuation of a flowerpot).
Crochet with light green color.
Fill as you crochet, but so that you can then insert a cotton bud sticks.
7 row: BLO10 sc (10)
8-19 row: 10 sc (10)
20 row: (4 sc, inc) * 2 (12).
Do not close the loop, then continue to crochet the
center of the flower («head») with the light lemon-
colored yarn. The green thread can be cut.
6
The head of a flower. Change the yarn to light lemon and
continue crochet:
Do not fill up yet.
21 row: inc * 12 (24)
22 row: (3 sc, inc) * 6 (30)
23 row: (4 sc, inc) * 6 (36)
24 row: (5 sc, inc) * 6 (42)
25-32 row: 42 sc (42).
If you use safe eyes: they can be inserted between 29 and 30
rows, the distance between them is 4 sc.
Now you can insert a cotton bud
sticks into the stem. The stick captures
a small part of the color pot, the
entire length of the stem and a little
from the "head" of the flower.
Now you can start stuffing.
33 row: (5 sc, dec) * 6 (36)
34 row: (4 sc, dec) * 6 (30)
35 row: (3 sc, dec) * 6 (24)
36 row: (2 sc, dec) * 6 (18)
37 row: (1 sc, dec) * 6 (12)
38 row: dec * 6. Fasten and cut the thread.
Leaves (make 2).
1 row: 6 sc in a magic ring (6)
2 row: 6 sc (6)
3 row: (1 sc, inc) * 3 (9)
4 row: (2 sc, inc) * 3 (12)
5 row: (3 sc, inc) * 3 (15)
6-7 row: 15 sc (15)
8 row: (1 sc, dec) * 5 (10)
Fasten the thread and leave a long end for
sewing. Do not stuff.
Petals (make 7).
1 row: 6 sc in a magic ring (6)
2 row: (1 sc, inc) * 3 (9)
3 row: (2 sc, inc) * 3 (12)
4 row: (3 sc, inc) * 3 (15)
5-6 row: 15 sc.
For all six pieces: fasten and cut the thread.
For the seventh petal: do not cut the thread, and
continue to connect all the petals with it.
7
Crochet for both walls of the seventh petal 7 sc, then substitute the next petal and
crochet for both walls of 7 sc, etc. on all remaining petals.
Fasten the thread and leave a long end for sewing.
Yes, the length of this bunch of petals is greater than the
circumference of the head. It should be so.
Assembly and design.
1. Sew the petals to the “head”. The sewing line runs through the middle of the
head, i.e. in the place where the crochet of this head was finished (so it looks
sewn and needs to be arranged like this).
Please note, since the length of the chain of petals is greater than the
circumference of the head (as it was planned), the petals must be sewn by
squeezing them slightly inward to get a deepening. Thus, we compensate for the
excess length and get a nicer petal.
8
It is more convenient to sew: pin the first petal at the bottom of the head and
pin the third in about the same position as we will sew them. Now the main thing is
to pin it not exactly, but just fix this chain so that it does not hang out and does not
interfere with us.
We begin to sew the petals to the head from the first (lower), which we pinned
(do not forget about the recesses). Then, before you begin to sew the second petal,
we pin it (in the distance between the 2nd and 3rd petal) to the head for sure. That
is, one end of the petal has already been fixed with the previous sewn petal, and
the other end of the petal we have fixed with a pin in the NEED (not approximate)
position, and we begin to sew. So do with all subsequent petals. In this way it should
turn out smoothly and conveniently.
When the last 3 petals remain, you will need to
pin the last petal to the starting point. And sew these
3 petals so that there is enough length for the whole
head of the flower without a space between the
beginning and the end.
2. Glue the eyes if you are not using safe eyes (I
glued).
3. Embroider a mouth with a thin black thread.
Please note that you do not need to tighten the line
of a smile.
9
The last stitch (third photo at this step) is also not tightened so that the mouth does
not become angular and does not “fail” in the middle.
And embroider the eyebrows.
4. Toned cheeks slightly.
5. Sew leaves to the base of the stem. First I pin
them with pins, and then sew them.
Congratulations my friend!
So our sunny and kind flower is ready. Thanks for crocheting
with me and using my pattern. I will be glad to meet again!
