ABSTRACT
This project focuses on the design and implementation of an Automatic Weather Station
(AWS) utilizing a Raspberry Pi, aimed at delivering accurate and real-time monitoring of
essential meteorological parameters such as temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure,
and rainfall. In an era where timely weather data is critical for agriculture, disaster
management, and personal forecasting, the AWS provides a robust solution to meet these
needs. The system is built around the Raspberry Pi, chosen for its affordability, versatility,
and extensive community support. It integrates multiple sensors, including the DHT11
for temperature and humidity, the BMP280 for atmospheric pressure, and a rain sensor,
among others. These sensors continuously collect data, which is then processed and stored
in a Maria DB database, allowing for long-term data analysis and trend monitoring. One
of the standout features of this AWS is its remote access capability, enabling users to
monitor weather conditions from anywhere via cloud integration. Additionally, the system
is designed to send alerts through email or SMS when readings exceed predefined
thresholds, enhancing safety and preparedness for extreme weather events. The project
also highlights the scalability of the system, allowing for the addition of further sensors,
such as wind speed and advanced rain gauges, as needed. This flexibility makes the AWS
suitable for various applications, including environmental monitoring, smart cities, home
automation, and educational projects. Overall, this Automatic Weather Station not only
demonstrates the potential of the Raspberry Pi as a cost-effective platform for weather
monitoring but also emphasizes the importance of real-time data in making informed
decisions across multiple sectors. By providing reliable and accessible weather
information, the AWS contributes significantly to improved environmental awareness and
preparedness.
