During the G7 Summit in Apu-
lia, Italy, Indian Prime Minister
met UK's Rishi Sunak, France's
Emmanuel Macron, Ukraine's
Volodymyr Zelensky, and oth-
ers. Later, he also met with Pope
Francis of the Vatican.
The G7 Summit is an annual ga-
thering of leaders from France,
the United States, the United
Kingdom, Germany, Japan, Italy, and Canada, along with the European Union.
Originating in the 1970s, the G7 was formed to address economic and political challenges among
developed nations. It has evolved into a platform where leaders exchange views and issue joint state-
ments on critical global issues.
The 2024 G7 Summit, hosted by Italy under Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, will focus on Africa,
migration, economic security, and international cooperation on artificial intelligence. Special guests in-
clude leaders from Africa and other countries like India and Brazil, reflecting a diverse agenda aimed at
addressing pressing global concerns.

International Labour Conference (ILC) in
Geneva, Switzerland.
Ms. Dawra, a senior IAS officer, currently
serves in the Ministry of Commerce and In-
dustry.
The conference, held from 3–14 June 2024,
addresses global labor issues and includes
discussions on biological hazard protec-
tions, fundamental labor rights, and the
care economy.
The ILO, founded in 1919, is a UN
agency focused on international labor standards and social justice.
Climate Conference in November to emphasis ‘Peace and Truce’
The 2024 UN Climate Change Confer-
ence (UNFCCC COP 29) in Baku, Azer-
baijan, scheduled for November 11,
will focus on integrating "Peace" and
"Truce" amidst ongoing conflicts to
prioritize climate solutions.
It includes COP 29, CMP 19 under the
Kyoto Protocol, and CMA 6 under the
Paris Agreement, addressing transparency frameworks and financial goals. Azerbaijan, a petro-
state transitioning from fossil fuels, will host the event amid geopolitical complexities.
77th World Health Assembly
The 77th World Health Assembly
amended the International Health Regu-
lations of 2005 based on 300 member
state recommendations.
Amendments aim to strengthen global rea-
diness for pandemic and public health
emergencies.
The World Health Assembly (WHA) is the
governing body of the World Health Or-
ganization (WHO), operating under the
United Nations (UN).
It convenes annually at the UN headquarters
in Geneva, Switzerland, gathering representatives from WHO member states.
The WHA discusses and sets global health priorities based on a healthcare agenda defined by the
WHO Executive Board.
The Executive Board consists of 34 technically qualified members elected to three-year terms.
Each January, the Executive Board meets to finalize the agenda and resolutions to be approved by
the World Health Assembly.
KAZA Summit 2024 and Wildlife Product Trade
The KAZA 2024 Heads of State Summit con-
cluded in Livingstone, Zambia, on May 31.
Leaders from Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Zam-
bia, and Zimbabwe agreed to advocate for lift-
ing the ivory trade ban at CoP20 of CITES in Ge-
neva in the coming year.
Southern African nations previously proposed lega-
lizing ivory trade at CoP19 in Panama in 2022 but
were unsuccessful.
KAZA-TFCA covers Angola, Botswana, Namibia,
Zambia, and Zimbabwe, protecting significant wildlife habitats and a large portion of Africa's
elephant population.
Zimbabwe and KAZA members are exploring alternative markets, particularly in the East, due to re-
strictions on trophy hunting imports by Western nations.
Wildlife trafficking is driven by poaching, organized crime, and economic incentives, necessitating
measures such as stricter laws, funding for wildlife protection, and public awareness campaigns.
International Humanitarian Conference for Sudan: Rallying Support Amidst Crisis
Sudan's humanitarian crisis prompted an International Humanitarian Conference in Paris on
April 15, 2024, organized by France, Germany, and the EU.
Over 58 states and numerous international organizations attended, alongside Sudanese NGOs, em-
phasizing global commitment.
Donors pledged over 2 billion euros, with the EU contributing 900 million euros, to aid Sudan's
24 million people in need of essential supplies.
Sudan's conflict, intensified since 2023, involves the Sudanese Armed Forces and Rapid Support
Forces, leading to significant casualties and displacements.
Approximately 9 million Sudanese have fled to neighboring countries, exacerbating food insecurity
and internal displacement..
India and Brazil Conduct Inaugural ‘2+2’ Dialogue
India and Brazil held their inaugural ‘2+2’ de-
fence and foreign ministerial dialogue to
strengthen bilateral relations.
Delhi hosted the dialogue, highlighting India's
