General Ground Rules for Intramurals 2024

1. All participants must show respect to their fellow competitors, referees, and organizers at all times.

2. Verbal abuse, unsportsmanlike conduct, and aggressive behavior are strictly prohibited.

3. Teams and individuals must arrive at least 15 minutes before their scheduled games.

4. Any team or participant that is more than 10 minutes late may forfeit the match.

5. Participants must wear appropriate sports attire and shoes during their respective events.

6. Safety gear (e.g., helmets, pads) must be worn for applicable sports.

7. No jewelry or accessories that may cause injury are allowed.

8. Cheating or intentional rule violations will result in disqualification from the event and possibly future
events.

9. All players are expected to play fairly and follow the rules specific to each sport.

10. Substitutes are allowed only during appropriate breaks or as determined by the referees.

11. In the event of an injury, the game will pause to allow medical attention if necessary. Injured players
may be substituted based on the sport’s rules.

12. Any participant feeling unwell must inform their coach or team leader immediately.

13. Hydration is encouraged; water stations will be available at the venue.

14. The use of any banned substances or performance-enhancing drugs is strictly forbidden.

15. Any form of physical violence or intentional harm to other participants will lead to immediate
disqualification and disciplinary action.

16. Players involved in fights may be banned from future intramural events.

17. Spectators are expected to cheer positively and avoid offensive language or gestures.

18. Spectators must stay within designated areas and avoid interference with the ongoing games.

19. All participants and spectators are expected to keep the venue clean. Littering is strictly prohibited.

20. Teams should clean their areas after games.

21. Any protest regarding officiating must be made immediately following the game through the team
captain or coach.

22. Protests will be addressed by the Intramural Committee, and their decision is final.
23. Only registered participants may play in the events.

24. Teams must meet minimum and maximum player requirements for each event.

25. Substitutions or changes in team members must be reported prior to the start of the event.

26. Each sport will have specific time limits. Games will end promptly based on the official timer or
referee's decision.

27. Extra time, overtime, or tiebreakers will follow sport-specific rules.

28. Only authorized participants, coaches, and officials are allowed on the playing field or court.

29. Unauthorized individuals entering the field may result in penalties or disqualification for the team
they represent.

30. The venue is a strictly alcohol-free and drug-free zone. Any participant or spectator found under the
influence will be removed from the premises. Teams found violating this rule may face disqualification.

31. No unauthorized video recording, livestreaming, or use of electronic devices for coaching purposes is
allowed during the games.

32. Use of technology should not disrupt the games or violate any participant’s privacy.

33. Teams must have clear identification, such as team jerseys or uniforms with numbers.

34. Each team is responsible for ensuring that all players are properly identified according to their
official roster.

35. Coaches must lead by example, showing respect to officials, opponents, and players.

36. Coaches must not interfere with referees' decisions or encourage unsportsmanlike behavior.

37. The referee or official has the final say on all in-game decisions, including penalties, timekeeping,
and disputes.

38. Arguing with or harassing officials may lead to ejection from the game or venue.

39. In case of an emergency (e.g., fire, injury, natural disaster), all participants must follow the venue's
emergency procedures.

40. Designated safety officers and first aid teams will be present; participants should immediately report
any accidents or hazards.

41. Team captains are responsible for maintaining team discipline and ensuring all players follow the
rules.

42. Captains must communicate with referees and officials on behalf of their teams when necessary.
43. Participants must meet eligibility requirements, such as age, student status, or qualification levels as
determined by the Intramural Committee.

44. Any participant found to be ineligible will be removed, and their team may face disqualification.

45. Teams failing to present the minimum required number of players or failing to meet deadlines for
games may automatically forfeit the match.

46. Forfeited games may count as a win for the opposing team, depending on the sport's format.

47. All issues, clarifications, or disputes must be formally communicated to the Intramural Committee
via the team captains or coaches.

48. The committee’s decisions regarding rules or disputes are final.

49. Awards will be given based on performance and sportsmanship across all events.

50. Teams or players showing exceptional conduct may be recognized separately for good
sportsmanship or outstanding effort.
