VII. RATIONALE:
The Liga ng Mga Barangay – Iloilo Province annually celebrates its Liga Day to recognize the
efforts of all barangay officials in the province, while providing a setting for them to relax and
have a good time through participation in sports and recreation.
With responsibilities extending beyond “business hours,” barangay officials are vulnerable to
slipping into this unattractive lifestyle.
The hosting of the Liga Day involving barangay officials from all 1,721 barangays of Iloilo
Province is driven by the provincial government’s thematic commitment to propel Iloilo towards
becoming a robust, progressive, globally competitive, and resilient province.
As a province, we foster a culture of robust health and well-being among barangay officials.
By engaging in sports activities, participants are encouraged to prioritize physical fitness and
mental resilience. A healthy leadership is crucial for effective governance and sustainable
development at the grassroots level, promoting a proactive approach to community issues and
challenges.
Other than for the well-being of the barangay officials, it foresees an impact to the
community. The provincial league will serve as a catalyst for progress and competitiveness.
Through friendly competitions and collaborative sportsmanship, barangay officials can
cultivate leadership skills, teamwork, and strategic thinking. These qualities are essential for
driving innovation and fostering an environment conducive to economic growth and social
advancement across Iloilo Province.
VIII. GENERAL OBJECTIVE
To conduct an event which will gather together all Barangay Officials of the Province
of Iloilo to promote unity and harmony and to likewise showcase their talents and abilities.
IX. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
The activity is designed to:
1. To promote community engagement among leaders of the participating
districts and the collaboration of municipalities within each district;
2. To foster camaraderie among the barangay officials of the province;
3. To reinforce the importance of sports in the well-being of the individual through
demonstration of the esteemed barangay officials;
4. To offer a setting for barangay officials to unwind through sports and recreation.
X. TARGET PARTICIPANTS
Elected and Appointed Barangay Officials and Sangguniang Kabataan
Chairpersons of the Province of Iloilo.
XI. METHODOLOGY
Speakers will be invited to talk on the different issues affecting the barangays and to
further motivate the barangay officials. Likewise, activities to showcase the talents of
barangay officials will also be included and exhibits of best harvests and finest products
of the barangays will be highlighted.
XII. ACTIVITIES
Sports Tournament
An integral activity of the Liga Day festivities is the sports tournament, composed of
basketball and volleyball competitions. There are five teams, each team representing a
district of the Iloilo Province.
The detailed activity design of the sports tournament is embodied in Activity Design –
Provincial Barangay League.
Parade
The barangay officials, led by their municipal Liga President, shall enter the venue with
festive music and banners or props best representing their municipalities.
To prevent congesting traffic, the parade will be from the Sports Complex Annex to the
Sport Complex Main
Commitment Signing
One of the main highlights of the Liga Day is the annual renewal of commitment to deliver
good governance and valuable government services to the Ilonggos. This is symbolized by
the signing of Iloilo Province’s leaders, and instrumental national leaders.
Palarong Pangnayon
A set of mini-games intended for the involvement of attendees in the Liga celebration,
which aims to further evoke the spirit of competition while promoting Filipino culture.
Music and Entertainment
A section in the program allocated for pure fun and enjoyment of the barangay officials
and guests. Performers will be invited according to delight the attendees.
Awarding and Recognition
The main purpose of the Liga celebration. This will entail not only the awarding of the winners
of the tournament, but will acknowledge outstanding barangays and and Liga chapters.
Raffle
The drawing of raffles shall be conducted in between different sections of the program.

XV. MONITORING AND EVALUATION
At the end of the activity, a post activity report shall be submitted to the
Department of the Interior and Local Government Provincial Office.
