TERMS OF REFERENCE (TOR) FOR RIPPLES INTERNATIONAL CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS –

SCHOOL MANAGER.

1. Introduction.

 Position Title: School Manager


 Location: Ripples International Christian Schools, Meru
 Reporting To: Board of Management
 Remuneration: Competitive and commensurate with experience

2. Objective of the Role:

The school manager will oversee the overall management of Ripples International
Christian Schools, ensuring that the institution’s operations align with its vision, mission,
and strategic goals. This role requires a proactive leader to manage staff, drive academic
excellence, and foster a supportive learning environment.

3. Key Responsibilities:

 Strategic Leadership
 Develop and implement the school’s strategic plans in collaboration with the
Board of Management.
 Establish short and long-term goals to achieve academic excellence and
institutional growth.
 Drive initiatives that align with the school’s mission and values, promoting high
standards in both academics and co-curricular activities.

 Academic and Administrative Supervision


 Supervise and support the Headteacher, School Administrator, and Accountant,
ensuring efficiency in all departments.
 Oversee co-curricular activities to enhance student development and community
involvement.
 Manage the school’s daily operations, including academic programs,
administration, and student affairs, to ensure smooth functioning.
 Human Resource Management
 Lead staff recruitment, retention, performance management, and professional
development.
 Foster a positive work environment, promoting teamwork, accountability, and
staff morale.
 Conduct regular performance evaluations for key staff members, including the
Head teacher, Administrator, and Accountant.

 Financial Oversight
 Work closely with the school Accountant to manage budgets, control
expenditures, and ensure financial sustainability.
 Oversee financial planning, budget monitoring, and reporting, ensuring
compliance with the school’s policies and best practices.
 Facilitate fundraising and resource mobilization efforts to enhance financial
stability and support school development projects.

 Stakeholder Engagement
 Act as the main liaison between the school and the Board, preparing regular
reports and updates on school performance and strategic objectives.
 Build and maintain strong relationships with parents, community members,
government authorities, and other educational stakeholders.
 Represent the school in external forums, strengthening partnerships that enhance
the school’s reputation and resources.

 Policy Development and Compliance


 Establish and enforce policies that promote the school’s objectives, values, and
standards.
 Ensure compliance with all relevant educational regulations and quality standards.
 Promote a culture of continuous improvement, reviewing and updating policies
and practices as needed.

 Risk Management and Crisis Response


 Identify and mitigate potential risks affecting school operations, reputation, and
safety.
 Develop crisis response protocols and lead the school’s response in emergency
situations, ensuring the welfare of students and staff.
4. Qualifications and Skills:

 Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business Management, School


Administration, or a related field; a Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
 Experience: A minimum of 5 years in a leadership role within the education sector
or related field, preferably with experience in school management or educational
program administration.
 Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and team management abilities, with the
capacity to inspire and motivate staff.
 Strategic Thinking: Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, budget
management, and policy implementation.
 Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication
skills.
 Financial Acumen: Proficiency in financial planning, budgeting, and resource
allocation.
 Problem-Solving: Ability to identify challenges proactively and develop effective
solutions.
