INTRODUCTION

Brgy. Dangulaan, Anilao, iloilo is a coastal community, and the rehabilitation of

decreasing mangrove forests has been placed as a priority program of the local
government. As an offshoot of the vegetative cover assessment, the municipality
identified 115.6241 hectares of mangrove vegetation located in Barangay Dangula-an,
and portions along river banks and creeks in Badiang, Serallo, and Sta. Rita, for
protection. Dense mangrove areas are found in Barangay Dangulaan. Patrolling and
surveillance of the coastal waters through the "BantayDagat Program" is conducted to
control illegal activities that may cause the loss of natural resources and biodiversity. A
strong collaboration among the stakeholders is being pursued by the municipality
through a series of capacity-building activities. The Bantay Dagat should be conducted
to equip them with the knowledge of handling the various scenarios on the ground.
Fishpond operators will be coordinated for the protection of existing mangroves and
plantations. (DA of Anilao)

This proposal outlines a plan to measure the effectiveness of conservation

strategies and sustainable livelihoods in Brgy. Dangulaan, Anilao, Iloilo mangrove
ecosystem. The goal is to enhance local livelihoods, improve conservation strategies,
and promote sustainable fisheries resource management.
