Disable the DHCP Server


settings on your router to prevent problems. See figure below.

And take note of your router (Default Gateway) IP Address, subnet

Logging in the Windows Server 2019 / 2022
1. To unlock the screen: press ctrl + alt + del key to activate login screen.

2. On the login screen type the password on the text box and press enter
to login the server.

3. You will then be on the server manager window.


Adding Roles & Services
1. On the Server Manager Dashboard. And Click “Add roles and
features” on the welcome screen window Or Click Manage > Add
Roles and features.

2. Click “next” on the following windows that pops up.

3. Under Select server roles:


a. Mark Active Directory Domain Services then click add features
b. Mark DHCP SERVER then click add features,

c. mark DNS SERVER and click add features,


d. Mark Under File & Storage Services, and under File and iSCSI services,
The File Server Resouce Manager and then add features,

e. Mark Print and Document Services and click add features,


f. then click next, in the features menu, select the Windows Server
Backup, then click next,

g. Click next,
h. Click next,

i. Click next,
j. Click next,

k. Click next,
l. In Confirm installation Selections, mark restart destination server
automatically if required then click yes, then click install.

m. Wait it finishes the install process. Click Close Button

n. Wait for Server Manager to load and wait to finish its process. Click the
refresh icon in the upper right corner of the window to refresh the
dashboard. s

Promoting the Server to a Domain Controller


1. Click the Flag in the upper right corner, the one that has a yellow
triangle exclamation point to reveal the warnings. Click the promote this
server to a domain controller. (see figures below)

2. In the Active Directory Domain Services Config Wizard, a.) Select add
new forest, then in the b.) Domain name text box, type (Domain Name)
TesdaCSS.local, then Click next.
3. In domain controller options, type in the directory services restore mode
(DSRM) password section, Password1 in Password text box and repeat
typing it again at the Confirm password textbox, notice that if both the
password boxes has are the same the Next button will be enabled. Click
the Next button.
4. In the DNS Option leave the Create DNS delegation unmarked and click
next.

5. In the additional option, leave the NetBios Domain Name text box
(TESDACSS) as is, click next.
6. leave Paths in the indicated folders as is, click next.

7. In review options, click next.


8. If all prerequisite checks passed successfully is prompted, you can click
the install button.

9. Wait for the completion of installation process and you will be


prompted to be signed off. Click close on the prompt, and the desktop
pc will restart. (If it didn't restart, manually restart the desktop pc).
Log back in the desktop pc by pressing ctrl+alt+del keys. The figure
below will greet you a new Netlogin screen. Type your administrator
password on the provided textbox on the screen.
10. When you have successfully logged-in, the screen will appear as
follows.

DHCP SERVER
1. Click the Flag again in the upper right corner, click the complete DHCP
configuration.
2. In the DHCP post-install configuration wizard under Description menu,
select Next.

3. In Authorization window , leave the marked option Use the following


user's credentials; user name: TESDACSS/Administrator then click
commit.
4. Then Close.

Configuring the DHCP Server


1. Click the magnifying glass on the taskbar and type, DHCP, and click the
DHCP icon that appears.
2. The dhcp window will launch. Click the maximize icon to maximize the
window for better viewing.

3. In the server manager, double click the item on the left pane to
collapse the contents.
4. Right click on IPV4 and select new scope…

5. The new Scope wizard will appear. Click Next.


6. In the new scope window, type in the name box: TesdaCSS_scope,
click next

7. Type the following sample Ip Address range in the text boxes. See
figure below. Then click next.
8. Click next on the Add Exclusion and Delay window.

9. On Lease duration, leave as is and click next.


10. On configure DHCP Options window, leave the selected Yes, I
want to configure theses options now, then click next.

11. Type the IP Address of the router in the IP address text box
then click add, it will appear on the list below and then click next,
12. In the domain name and DNS Server, leave as is and click next.

13. In WINS Servers window, leave it blank and click next


14. In Activate Scope, leave Yes, I want to activate this scope now.
And then click next.

15. Finally click finish to end the wizard.


16. The DHCP window will now look as the figure below. Take note
of the IPV4, it has a green check icon, It means that the DHCP Server
is now working.

Configure the Server PC to make all client pc on the network to receive


IP address from DHCP server thru DNS.
1. Press winlogo + r
2. Type ncpa.cpl to launch the Network Connections.
3. Right Click the active ethernet connection then select properties, then
select internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPV4), the click properties, in
the Use the following DNS server address: change the (127.0.0.1) ip
address to the Server’s IP address (192.168.11.101) Type 8.8.8.8 on the
Alternate DNS Server. See figure below.
4. Click Okey then close, and close button.
5. On the client pc navigate to the ethernet properties and change the DNS
IP address to the ip address of the SERVER to receive ip address from
DHCP server. Once succeeded it will show as the figure below. It will
change to the (TesdaCSS.local) domain name, click the yes on the right
side pop up windows to close.

Configuring DNS Server


1. Click the start menu and type DNS and press enter.
2. In the DNS manager, on the left pane click and collapse the CSS-
SERVER01, collapse the Forward Lookup Zone, collapse the
TesdaCSS.local. Then on the right pane select the computer named
css-server01.

3. Right click on css-server01 file, select & click properties.


4. Mark the update associated pointer (PTR) record, click apply then
okey, and then click okey to close.
5. Then select the Reverse Lookup Zones, right click, select and click New
Zone.

6. Click next in the New Zone Wizard.


7. Mark Primary Zone option, then click next.

8. Leave the “To all DNS servers running on domain controllers in this
domain” option, then click next.
9. Leave the selected IPV4 Reverse Lookup Zone option then click next.

10. On marked Network ID, type the ip address of the SERVER only on
the third octet (192.168.11). And then click next.
11. Leave the selected “Allow only secure dynamic updates
(Recommended for Active Directory)” option, click next then finish
12. Collapse the Reverse Lookup Zones on the left pane, select the item
under it, right click then New Pointer

13. In PTR window, at the Host IP Address textbox, complete the ip


address of the server's last octet of the ip address, then click browse
button.
14. Click the “CSS-SERVER” in the records table box and select All
records in Record Types pull down text box

15. Then double click the server to reveal another folder, double click it
again.
16. Look for(TesdaCSS.local)double click it to reveal its contents.

17. Look for Start of Authority SOA type filename, select the file parallel
to it named Same as parent folder and click OK button
18. Then okey again.

Repeat the same procedure on the (127.0.0.1) for reverse lookup


under the Reverse Lookup Zones. See the figures below.
Then close the DNS Manager window.
