CHAPTER 1

Introduction

There are large numbers of commercial software packages

available to assist with timetabling problem. However, due to the variety

of characteristic, procedure and complexity of each university in the

scheduling process make the study in this research area still interesting.

In order to solve the best solution for this timetabling problem.

This research will focus on Development and Implementation of an

Automated Scheduling System in IFSU 2024. As times passes, several

issues arise dealing with the scheduling process of schools and

universities like time spent in providing solutions for the time conflicts;

assigning of faculty, students and room schedules takes a number of days

and even weeks to prepare; and as a result, the scheduled start of classes

was not followed. These problems greatly affect the student’s eagerness

to attend their classes, the time frame of the faculty in delivering the

topics and entails negative feedbacks on the top – level management.

With the birth of Information and Communication Technology, there were

several studies presented and published that provide effective solutions

and strategies in dealing with problems in scheduling. This schedule

relies on the schedule made within the Section Tab. All the topics dealt

with by the instructor might be displayed right here with their

corresponding units. The time and the room that the instructor conducts

his class may even be displayed.

Statement of the problem

This study focuses on Development and Implementation of an Automated

Scheduling System in IFSU 2024.

The study aims to address the following problems;

1. the time and schedule of subject is not accurate?

2. Conflict of time and schedule?

3. if there is a significant gap in the actual versus the ideal time

consumed in scheduling of subject?

4. Can the automated scheduling reduce the time and conflict of

schedule?

Objective of the study

This study aims to Develop and Implementation of an Automated

Scheduling System in IFSU 2024 and test its functionality in terms of

speed, accuracy, stability, and adaptability in making schedules.

These are the specific objectives the proponents want to achieve:

1. To provide a more accurate way of scheduling of subjects.

2. To provide a system that could detect if there’s conflict on the

plotted schedule.

3. To Develop and Implementation of an Automated Scheduling

System in IFSU 2024.

4. to determine gap in the actual versus the ideal time consumed in

scheduling of subject.

Significance of the study

This research is conducted to propose and create a system that will

be great of help to the school, Ifugao state university-lagawe campus and

the researchers and to future researchers. This study is very useful to the

following:

1. IFSU-Lagawe Campus – the result of the research will provide

necessary information to the school.

2. For the college student: the Develop and Implementation of an

Automated Scheduling System in IFSU 2024 will help the student to

avoid conflict in their schedules.

3. College faculty: the faculty staff should have a proper schedule and

loading.

4. Researcher: this will be their start-up of continuing project to develop

other system that will be integrated into become as one to determine

the schedule for the student.

5. Future Researchers- the study will act as a guide for other

researchers who plan to explore or conduct the same topic for their

future study.
