Figure 4: (d)
Figure 3: (c)

2. Determine which of the following discrete time sinusoids are periodic and compute their fundamental
period N0 and frequency F0 .
i. cos(0.01πn)
30
ii. cos( 105 πn)
iii. cos(3πn)
iv. sin(n)
3. Check if the following signals are periodic. If yes, find the DTFT and DTFS. Plot the spectra of these
i. x1 (n) = cos( π4 n)
ii. x2 (n) = cos( π3 n) + sin( π4 n)
iii. x3 (n) = cos2 π8 n
4. Prove that

i. u(n) has a DTFT, U (Ω) = πδ(Ω) + 1+e−jΩ

ii. nx[n] ↔ −j dΩ
d
X(Ω)

5. Find the inverse DTFT of (1−ae−jΩ )2 (use convolution property)

6. Find the Nyquist sampling frequency of x(t) = sinc3 (2πt) in Hz.

7. The signal x(t) = sinc(t) is sampled using an ideal sampler p(t) = n δ(t − nπ). Draw the spectrum
X(ω) of the sampled signal x(t)
8. A time limited signal is to be sampled at 200 KHz. What are the band widths required for
i. an ideal anti-aliasing filter
ii. an ideal reconstruction filter
9. The signal x(t) = sin(4πt) is to be sampled to produce a discrete time sinusoid of period 5. List few
sampling frequencies possible. Which sampling rates will recover x(t) from its samples?

10. Consider the signal x(n) = n δ(n − 5l). Find
i. the period of this signal
ii. the DTFS coefficients of this signal
iii. the DTFT of one period of this signal
iv. the DFT of one period of this signal

11. Find the 4-point DFT of the signal x(n)={4, 3, 2, 1} using

i. DFT synthesis equation
ii. DFT matrix W
Plot the spectra.

12. Assume that X(Ω) in problem no. 11 is sampled at Ωk = 2π N k for k = 0 and k = 2 only. What are the
time domain signals that cane be recovered from this frequency domain samples?
Hint:

• Ωk = 4 k for k = 0, 2
• = 2π
2 k1 for k1 = 0, 1, N ′ = 2
• Think of DTFS of x( 2π
2 k), k = 0, 1
