ABOUT ARAVALI BIODIVERSITY PARK
Situated in the heart of Gurgaon, Aravali Biodiversity Park is a sanctuary for both scholars studying biodiversity and nature lovers.
This 380-acre park was created with the intention of reintroducing the original flora and wildlife of the Aravali mountain range,
which is among India's oldest mountain ranges. The park offers tourists a tranquil haven from the rush of daily life and acts as a
green lung for Gurgaon, a city that is quickly urbanising.

the Aravali Biodiversity Park is more than just a green space; it is a living laboratory for biodiversity, a place of learning, and a refuge
for those seeking to reconnect with nature. Its sustainable practices and conservation efforts set an example for urban parks everywhere,
making it a must-visit destination in Gurgaon.

Rimberio Co WATER CONSERVATION STATUS
The Aravali biodiversity park is a shining example of conscious water management. It utilises a
gravity-based drip irrigation system to cover 3 major hills and an area of 75 acres, saving a
staggering 4 million litres of water annually. This innovative system reduces the burden on the
water table by harnessing multiple water sources, including grey water from sewage
treatment plants.
The park also features two large ponds, created to restore the wetlands and designed to
harvest every drop of rainwater, making the ABDP a vital water recharge zone for the city
of Gurgaon. The park’s water strategy is not just about saving water but also about
preserving the delicate balance of the ecosystem.
However, despite these efforts, the park’s water conservation faces ongoing challenges. The
area's rapid urban development, over-extraction of groundwater, and changing rainfall patterns
put pressure on its water resources. Maintaining adequate water levels in its wetlands and
ponds requires continuous attention, particularly in a region with severe water shortages.
SOCIO-ECONOMIC ENVIRONMENTAL STATUS

The Aravalli Biodiversity Park on the Gurgaon-Delhi border is an important green space that helps
restore nature in the area. It used to be a degraded land, but now it has many types of plants,
birds, animals, and butterflies. The park also helps recharge groundwater, which is important for the
region because of water shortages. It also reduces air pollution and keeps the area cooler.

The park benefits people by offering a place for eco-tourism and education about the environment.
Locals and tourists come to enjoy nature, walk, and learn. It also supports local communities by creating
jobs through conservation and park maintenance activities.

However, the park faces problems like urban development around it, pollution, and a lack of water.
These issues threaten the park's natural environment. Despite these challenges, the park is still very
valuable for protecting nature, fighting climate change, and providing a peaceful space for people to
enjoy. More efforts are needed to protect it in the future.
