Move 1
Task
Deep and you were both from the same college and are friends. Both of you had joined TCS and are attending the
training program together. Deep is very proficient in a few software languages, as he had been using them from his
college days.
He has recently heard from another fresher trainee that people from our batch could be trained in some of the
newer technologies. While there is no official announcement, he is upset and has been complaining to you. He feels
his strengths are not being leveraged and learning new technologies would make him lose touch with the ones he's
good at. You know he's a fast learner with high potential.
How will you respond to Deep?
Your Response/Action
Tell Deep that learning the new technologies can enhance his professional growth.
Reason for Action
Advise him
Move 2
Task
You have been noticing that George, a popular fellow trainee, gossips frequently on unimportant topics such as a
co-worker's new hairstyle, weight gain, or weight loss in group calls.
Apart from George trying to increase his own influence at work, you feel that he often distracts others from the main
agenda of the call. This means that you have no time left to discuss the topics you intended to discuss, leading to
wasted time.
On one such group call, while George had still not joined, you told people that you did not appreciate George's
behavior. To your surprise, the fresher trainees on the call laughed and defended him. One of them said, "At least he
makes the calls interesting!" Another said, "He helps us relieve the stress of our daily routine."
What would you do in this situation?
Your Response/Action
If the workplace gossip won't stop and it is interfering with your work, ask your supervisor for advice.
Reason for Action
Involve supervisor

Task
Manuel, also a fresher, has joined your mini project team. He is very intelligent and a fast learner. In addition, he is
extremely polite and modest about his abilities. While he does great work on his own, when discussing options in a
group, he is typically quiet. He seems to feel very shy and nervous sharing his thoughts.
You feel Manuel's nervousness is keeping him from contributing fully to the team. You could really use his ideas, but
only if he shares them!
What would you do in this situation?
Your Response/Action
In the next group meeting, specifically ask Manuel to contribute to the discussion.
Reason for Action
Speak to Manuel
Move 4
Task
You are sharing an apartment with a few of your good friends from school. You are the only person there who is in
IT. Your friends, who are all in other professions, are having a great time going out in the city, while your schedule is
packed. You wish you could also be out and having fun with your friends. Your friends keep making fun of you,
saying you are not working on any important client engagements at this point; it is just classes or a mock project.
They sometimes make you feel like they are still in college.
Next week, your friends have planned a 4-day beach trip, including a Saturday and a Sunday. While you can take
time off and travel for the weekend, you will need to get time off on two weekdays. While you do not have any
classes, you have some tasks that you need to complete for the mini project. As the team lead, you may also have
project related queries, from your team members.
"Well, you can always call in sick and come with us, can't you?" asks one of your friends.
What do you do in this situation?
Your Response/Action
Tell your friends you can join the trip for the weekend only.
Reason for Action
Prioritize work
Move 5
Task
A few days ago, when you and your team were working hard on your mini project, Manuel, a fresher trainee in your
team, had come to you asking for a favor. He had said that he was really enjoying working on the project, but
needed to go on leave for 5 days, because of a personal emergency at home. He requested you to cover for him
and take care of his deliverables while he was away. You were swamped with various activities related to the
project and otherwise, but you agreed to help Manuel out. You even spoke to your supervisor and told her
confidently that you would be able to meet the project deadline, despite Manuel's absence.
It has been 3 days since Manuel left. Taking on Manuel's share of the work has been more difficult than you
expected. You are barely able to manage the workload. At this point, Manuel calls to tell you that he needs to
extend his leave by two more days.
What would you do in this situation?
Your Response/Action
Request your supervisor to assign a replacement for Manuel.
Reason for Action
Involve supervisor
Move 6
Task
For the final submission of the small library inventory management mini project, all team members had to
demonstrate their coding skills, by writing software programs for specific modules. Each team member was also
expected to have his or her own code independently reviewed by another trainee colleague, to find any errors or
defects. Findings were to be then shared in a group meeting, so everyone could learn from each other.
You are reviewing Maya's code. Maya is another fresher trainee who had topped the college, won several
hackathons and was well regarded for her coding skills. Maya was also the fastest trainee in your batch to complete
her mini project.
In your review, you notice that Maya's code is much more complex than yours. You also think there could be a
couple of minor logic errors or defects in her code. You are unsure if you should bring them up in the group meeting.
It could be embarrassing if it turned out that you had made a mistake in your review.
What would you do in this situation?
Your Response/Action
Gather your courage and, during the meeting, ask Maya to help you understand the code that you believe h
as defects.
Reason for Action
Speak to her
Move 7
Task
Your team had been working on writing a software program to manage a small library inventory, as a part of the mini
project at the end of your training. The project was due in a few days and most of the work was done. Suddenly,
you were told that the final submission of the software program also needed to include proper documentation.
When you shared this requirement with your team members, they started raising objections. One of them said the
documentation was too monotonous. Another said it would take a lot of time, and a third said no one really referred
to the documentation later. The last team member said if anyone really needed to know the functionality of the
code, they could easily look at the code and figure it out. Basically, no one wanted to do the documentation!
What would you do in this situation?
Your Response/Action
Make the team aware that without documentation, their code may be unreadable, and this would lower the
team's rating.
Reason for Action
Try to convince the team

You have noticed that Deep often comes to work late and wearing casual clothes. Sometimes, he wears slippers (or
flip-flops) to work. For a couple of days, it looked like he had even forgotten to comb his hair. He often says that he
overslept, had to rush to work and had no time to iron his clothes or get ready properly.
On Monday, your team had to present the initial findings of your mini project to the facilitator. Deep was to do the
initial part of the presentation. A few minutes before the presentation, he called to say that he had missed the
earlier bus and was stuck in traffic. You and the entire team had to scramble to cover up for Deep's part of the
presentation. When Deep finally arrived, it looked like he had just got out of bed and come straight to work.
You are afraid that Deep will be late for the final presentation too. His behavior could create a poor impression of
your entire team, apart from getting a bad rating.
What would you do in this situation?
Your Response/Action
Ask Deep if he needs help to make sure he is ready on time.
Reason for Action
Help Deep
Move 9
Task
You have a problem at hand. Your team had submitted the final presentation for the mini project to the facilitator
yesterday. Today, you overhear George talking to Neel, his friend from another team.
George tells Neel, "Thanks bro! You really saved me. It just took a few minutes for me to change the background of
the slides and a few words here and there. I just copy-pasted some of your slides into my presentation!"
Clearly, based on that conversation, George had copied his part of the presentation from Neel.
You are shocked. While the presentations had already been submitted, the stakes are high. The best projects are to
be showcased to the entire fresher batch, and you think that your team has a good chance of entering the
showcase. But if George's actions become known, then chances are, your team will be disqualified, as the
facilitators had specifically asked everyone to submit their original work.
What are you going to do?
Your Response/Action
Speak to George privately, tell him what he did was wrong and ask him to tell the facilitator about it.
Reason for Action
Discuss within team

Asha, from your team, has asked you to urgently review an email she wants to send to the facilitator,
Shilpa, on behalf of your team. Asha wanted to thank Shilpa as well as let her know that our final
mini project presentation would be sent as a link, due to email attachment size constraints.

Subject: Thanks!
Hey Shilpa,
We have finally completed our mini project! Just wanted to keep you informed that we are sending out our slide
deck with an overview of the decision points and processes separately as a link (due to exceeding email attachment
limit).
Please let us know what you think. Needless to say, we are really keen to make it to the project showcase list. Lol
:-) Also just wanted to say THANK YOU - you are a very cool facilitator and we all really liked ur sessions. Now that
we are done with the mini project we are also going to take some time off and go to the beach (OMG, can't wait) .
Wish you some time off too from all the hard work. ENJOY!!
Again, on behalf of the entire team, may the force be with you!
Peace out.

Task
Each person on the team has been assigned specific tasks for the mini project to build a library
management system. Asha is responsible for sharing the status of daily software testing and
debugging activities.
However, Asha is often late in sharing the status trackers. Others have to keep following up with her to
get this information. A couple of times, Asha went off on leave without telling you or other team
members. This is slowing down work for the whole team.
How would you deal with this situation?
Your Response/Action
Tell Asha she needs to give the status updates on time
Reason for Action

You are mid-way through your ILP. You have a 2 pm meeting scheduled with the facilitator today to
give her an interim update on your mini project. Your project status at this mid-way point will impact
your final result on the project. You have been preparing for this meeting for the past few days, as you
want to reach the appropriate milestones.
Till yesterday, everything was on track, but this morning, one of your teammates discovered a bug in
the software code. You and your teammates have spent all morning rewriting the code and running
tests, and you finally discovered the root of the problem only at 1:55 pm. You feel that in just 15 more
minutes, you would be able to fix the code and you will then get good interim feedback from the
facilitator.
What do you decide to do?
Your Response/Action
Join the meeting on time, skip the part with the bug during the presentation and say that it is a work in pro
gress.
Reason for Action
Focus on attention management

You have finished the requirements gathering phase for the library management system, and have a
question for the facilitator, Tashi. You would like to know whether it is optional or necessary to include
the "Student Department" field in the system. So you write the following email to the facilitator:
Dear Tashi,
I hope you are well.
Our team has finished the requirements gathering for the library management system and are ready to
build the architecture. However, we have a question about the "Student Department" field. Is this field
optional or necessary to include in the system?
Thank you!
What will the subject of your email look like?
Your Response/Action
ATTENTION: QUESTION ABOUT FIELD.

You are part of a group of freshers attending a presentation from a senior leader. There is a lunch
break, after which the session will continue. You return early from lunch to complete some
programming for the cataloguing module of the mini project, which is due in a week's time. You are
surprised to find that the leader is also in the classroom, just standing by herself and looking outside
the window. She smiles at you when you come in.
What do you do next?
