1. Purpose

The purpose of this document is delivering instruction for turbine forced cooling.
2. Instruction

1) HP/IP thermal stress should be managed below -90%(both surface and bore). If
the stress level is higher than -90%, stop forced cooling until the level is lower than
-50%.

2) Bearing metal temperature should be monitored. In case of increasing its


temperature over the alarm value, stop forced cooling and operate turning gear to
protect bearing.

3) DXD(Differential Expansion Detector) and RXD(Rotor Expansion Detector) should


be maintained under alarm value.
* DXD : Differential Movement Detector Between Rotor and Casing (Relative Expansion)
* RXD : Absolute Rotor Expansion

4) Never do turbine forced cooling without turning gear operating.

5) HP & IP casing differential temperature between upper and lower should be


maintained under the appropriate level(using the cool down data during turning
gear operation after previous shutdown as guide)

6) In case that HP Rotor temp ≤ 350 deg.C & IP Rotor temp ≤ 400 deg.C, forced
cooling is possible. At initial, Air supply temp should be ≥ 100 deg.C for HP rotor
and ≥ 150 deg.C for IP rotor.

7) It is recommended that the difference of HP & IP 1st stage surface temperature


is under 28degC as possible.

8) Turbine metal temperature variation should be maintained under 6 degC per an


hour and supply air temp should be controlled by the requirement.

9) According to air flow schematic at following page, valve On/Off position should
be adjusted. For HP TBN cooling, air should be supplied through balance weight
access hole. For IP TBN cooling, air should be supplied through
HSFV(12MAW41AA101) after removal of trim part of the valve.
NOTE
1. THE P&ID FOR UNIT 2 IS BASICALLY THE SAME AS
THAT FOR UNIT 1, WITH PLANT CODE KEY=2.
