CHAPTER I
THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND
Introduction/ Background of the Study
In todays generation, All children are aware in technologies such as
cellphones, computers, laptops and etc. this have become a big problem in education
because having this technologies they can just search for the answers to their activities,
assignments, performance tasks using the Artificial intelligence(Al).
According to (Choudhury and Shamszare, 2023) shows that every fourth student
(25.2%) uses Al-based tools (very) frequently, while almost half of the students (47.8%)
use Al-based tools (very) rarely or occasionally. Slightly more than a third of the
students (36.69%) do not use Al-based tools at al, this study show that so many student
are using Ai(artificial intelegence) to attained their academic performance especially for
those who have low intellegent in academic performance than the others (UNESCO,
2020). Thus, it is vital to shedding light on how AI will impact one of the essential areas
of life, higher education. Ai have been popular since covid pandemic start because all of
student are in online (Stanford Encyclopaedia of Philosophy, 2020). AI is the world’s
new trend as it has proved more efficient in many fields, mainly during the COVID-19
pandemic This research article studies how AI impacts higher education based on
studies,experience etc.
The aim of this study Is to understand and determine the impact of AI to the students’
academic performance. This will help the teachers and students to realize and consider
the importance of working hard on our own and not always rely on the AI. This study
was conducted among the selected Grade 10 students at Tanza National High School.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES
This chapter will provide various readings that discuss relevant literature to analyze the
problem that many teachers encountered because of students that using AI. These
readings focus on analysis and comprehension of the issue.
IMPACT OF USING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI)
The link between AI and education, according to UNESCO , is through learning
with AI using AI tools in the classroom , learning about AI – the technologies and
techniques behind it, preparing for AI making sure every citizen can understand the
possible implications of AI on human life. It also thinks AI has a transformative potential
to solve some of the most pressing problems in education today: the urgent need to
build teaching and learning environments powered by comprehensive values of
inclusivity and fairness and the SDG 4 agenda to drive attainment. Therefore, given the
current circumstances and opportunities related, AI can massively speed up the
implementation and achievement of the global goals on education by removing access
barriers to learning, automating management procedures, and optimizing methods to
improve student performance and, as a result, learning outcomes (Moreno, 2019).
STUDENTS PERFORMANCE
First and foremost, AI could advance performance as much performance becomes
possible with more feedback . AI-powered systems can monitor student achievements,
provide personalized feedback, and identify areas where students need to improve with
high accuracy. Moreover, AI could monitor students’ behavior patterns, monitor attention
levels and identify which ones need extra assistance in specific subjects, fields, or
skills . Thus, students can anticipate their facilities to be pushed to the limit with instant
AI-enabled feedback and discern a better learning experience.(Adlawan,2024) AI
systems make valuable contributions to the e-learning and teaching process, presents
new opportunities, such as personalizing learning for learners, automation of instructors’
routine tasks, and the efficient implementation of adaptive assessments. Thus, their
prospects are undoubtedly encouraging. However, it is challenging to evaluate or
predict these systems’ influence on the culture, norms, and expectations of student-
instructor interaction . In e-learning, learner-instructor interaction, including
communication, support, and presence, has a determining factor in students’
satisfaction and learning. Therefore, examining how students and instructors assess the
influence of AI on this aspect will reveal any gaps, limitations, or obstacles that prevent
AI from fully allowing for the risks by the interaction’s security. To meet such a need for
future-oriented decision-making, in this paper, we examine the authentic voices of 12
students and 11 instructors on a variety of use cases of possible AI systems in online
learning with Speed Dating with storyboards. Overall, participants envision adopting AI
systems in online learning can mean personalized learner–instructor Interaction at scale
while risking violating social boundaries. They agreed that AI systems have been
positively valued for enhancing both the quantity and quality of communication and for
delivering just-in-time and personalized support for large-scale settings and for
increasing the perceived sense of connection but were worried about responsibility
agency, and surveillance. Such findings are relevant to AI systems design to guarantee
explainability, human-in-the-loop, and careful data collection. The study’s contributions
encompass the development of AI system storyboards that are technically feasible and
promote positive learner-instructor interaction, the collection of students’ and instructors’
concerns about AI systems through Speed Dating, and the proposal of practical
implications for maximizing the positive impact of AI systems while mitigating the
negative aspects (Seo, K., Tang, J., Roll, I. et al., 2021).
PROBLEM ENCOUNTERED
This study examines the impact of synthetic intelligence (AI) on loss in selection-
making, laziness, and privacy worries among college students in Pakistan and China.
Like other sectors, education additionally adopts AI technologies to deal with present
day-day challenges. AI funding will grow to USD 253.82 million from 2021 to 2025.
However, worryingly, researchers and institutions across the globe are praising the high-
quality function of AI however ignoring its worries. This look at is primarily based on
qualitative method the use of PLS-Smart for the statistics evaluation. Primary statistics
turned into amassed from 285 college students from unique universities in Pakistan and
China. The purposive Sampling method changed into used to attract the sample from
the population. The statistics analysis findings display that AI notably affects the loss of
human choice-making and makes people lazy. It additionally influences safety and
privateness. The findings display that 68.9% of laziness in people, sixty eight.6% in
private privateness and safety issues, and 27.7% in the loss of decision-making are
because of the impact of synthetic intelligence in Pakistani and Chinese society. From
this, it became observed that human laziness is the maximum affected vicinity because
of AI. However, this observe argues that significant preventive measures are essential
earlier than imposing AI generation in training. Accepting AI with out addressing the
most important human worries could be like summoning the devils. Concentrating on
justified designing and deploying and the usage of AI for training is suggested to deal
with the difficulty.(Ahmad, S.F., Han, H., Alam, M.M., et al., 2023) Furthermore, if
students turn out to be overly dependent on artificial intelligence, it would limit their
capabilities crucial wondering competencies and cognitive abilities. Students turns into
very dependent on machines. This will avert them from getting to know what it method
to multitask or push themselves to be innovative. This consequently limits their
capability to obtain their complete capacity and discover their abilities as their
assignments will now be made easier via the use of synthetic intelligence. (Awofiranye
M. 2024)
The collection of studies of related literature above Indicates the various problem of
students ability and thinking. These problem for the students need much attention of the
teachers and help them not just to rely on using Artificial Intelligence (AI).Positive and
poor effects of AI on student learning are feasible. The advantages encompass stepped
forward accessibility, individualized gaining knowledge of, and work automation that
boosts productivity. Still, it is able to also bring about over-reliance, boost privateness
problems due to records gathering, and get worse get entry to disparities to cutting-
edge mastering resources.
