PRINCIPLES OF

 ORGANIZATION

Organizing

It is the process of bringing together

physical, financial and human resources and
developing productive relationship amongst
the for achievement of organization goals

1. Principles of objectives

Every enterprise has its own objectives.

These objectives are to be well defined.
The structure of an organization should
be developed on the basis of its
objectives.

2. Division of labour

A work should be assigned to a person according

to ability, education and skill. Repetition of the
same work will lead to specialization. This will
increase productivity. So the efficiency of the
whole establishment will also go up. So there
should be division of labour in an organization.

3.Priciples of definition

The function, responsibilities, authority and

relationships of different departments and
individuals should be clearly defined.

4.Scalar chain

It refers an unbroken line of authority from

top level management to lower level.
Subordinates must know who is superior
and vice versa. This will help to establish a
line of communication. This chain of
command is known as scalar chain.

5.Unity of command

This principle states that an individual

should be placed under the control of only
one superior. The individual should receive
orders and instructions from only one
superior and not from several superiors

6.Span of control

Span of control determines the number of

subordinates a superior can effectively
manage. The organization structure
should be so devised that there is the
correct span of control.

7. Flexibility

Organisation structure should be flexible

to introduce changes. In other words
organization structure should have the
capacity to grow along with the growth of
enterprise.

8.Unity of direction

All departmental gaols are tuned to

achieve common goal. So there should be
co ordination of all activities of the
organization to achieve common goal.

9.Management by exception

Here the top level management is not involving

routine matters. Subordinates take the
decisions related to routine matters. The
authority is delegated to them. Senior
managers will only deal with exceptional.
