FLIGHT PLANNING SUMMARY

ALTITUDES and HEIGHTS

• MEA(FL/nil): Minimum safe En-Route Altitude with also RADIO COVERAGE. It’s MOCA and MRA!
• MOCA(T): Mimimum Obstruction Clearance Altitude.
• MORA(a): Minimum Off-Route Altitude. Corridor of obstacle clearance of 20 nm.
• MAA(MAA): Maximum Authorized Altitude that also provide RADIO COVERAGE.
• MRA(/): Minimum Reception Altitude for RADIO COVERAGE at 360°.
• OCA: MOCA for APPROACH.
• MDA/DA: Minimum Descent Altitude/Decision Altitude. For non precision/precision approach.

EN-ROUTE

• MTR: Minimum Time Route (great circle)

• MCR: Minimum Cost Route
• Obstacle Clearance over congested areas is 1000 ft or 2000ft if mountainous within R=600m.
• POS ATC REPORT: Ident/Pos/TimeUTC/FL/ETA and POS/3°POS
• WYP must distance less than 30 min or 200nm
• RNP: Required Navigation Precision. It’s the precision of the route during 95% of flight time (ex.
RNP5=+/- 5nm during 95% of time).
• COM failure: continue VMC and LAND asap/wait 20min from the Pos report in IFR-IMC-noRADAR
with same V and Alt/wait 7 min from POS report in IFR-IMC-RADAR and squack 7600.
𝐸×𝐻
• PSR: 𝐻+𝑂 E is Safe Endurance.
𝐷×𝐻
• PET: 𝐻+𝑂, D is the distance Dep-Dest. O is AEO and H is OEI.
• ICAO flight LEVELS: see the left image.
