Introduction:
Concrete pavement which is occasionally
called rigid pavement is a concrete layer that is
in contact with traffics directly and it is used
for different purposes and applications. The
concrete used for pavements can be modified
and changed in various ways as per the
requirement.
Concret Pavement Design Step
Preparation of Sub Grade
The foundation of the pavement structure
is known as subgrade. Preparation of
subgrade consists of all operations before
the pavement structure could be placed
over it and compacted. The subgrade may
be situated on an embankment or
excavation or at the existing ground surface.
Preparation of base course
The base course or basecourse in
pavements is a layer of material in
an asphalt roadway, race track,
riding arena, or sporting field. It is
located under the surface layer
consisting of the wearing course
and sometimes an extra binder
course.
Placing of form work
Formwork in construction is the use of
support structures and moulds to create
structures out of concrete which is poured into
the moulds. Formwork can be made using
moulds out of steel, wood, aluminium and/or
prefabricated forms. … Into this mould, fresh
concrete is placed only to harden
subsequently.
Watering of surface
Surface irrigation is where water is applied
and distributed over the soil surface by gravity.
It is by far the most common form of irrigation
throughout the world and has been practiced
in many areas virtually unchanged for
thousands of years.
Mixing and placing of concret
Placement of concrete is accomplished with
buckets, hoppers, manual or motor-
propelled buggies, chutes and drop pipes,
conveyor belts, pumps, tremies, and paving
equipment. Concrete can also be placed by
the shotcrete process, in which layers are
applied pneumatically.
Compaction
Compaction is the process which expels
entrapped air from freshly placed concrete
and packs the aggregate particles together
so as to increase the density of concrete. It
increases significantly the ultimate strength
of concrete and enhances the bond with
reinforcement.
Finishing
Finishing work is the concluding
stage of construction; in many cases,
the overall quality of a building or
structure being put into service
depends on the quality of its
execution. The main types of finishing
work include facing, plastering,
flooring (and parquetry), painting,
wallpapering, and glazing
