DW Formation – “Speed”
Description Best At
Speed Player Profile Speed is a great Double Wing
1 – QB Good Ball Manager / OK passer This is my Speed formation Offensive package to hit the wide
2 –TB –Best RB on Team which I’ve been running since edge of the Defense, and then use
3 – WB – HB / Counter / Blocker 2007. Speed is a mix of Double misdirection off the wide Sweep play.
4 – FB – Tough inside RB / Blocker Wing, Spin and SW Spinner Your #2 WB must be a top tier
Offenses toned down for youth experienced running back. The #3
football. The WBs are also wider running back will almost be as good
as your #2 WB. They are both great
than normal DW WBs. Kinda a RBs. #1 must be able to Spin and
semi Spread look but focused on manage the football. He must be able
the outside run over any passing to complete medium passes. FB will
attack. be a great blocker and inside runner.
This is not an easy DW to master
0 with average talent.

Start Here!
.
The Selected Base 8,
Sweet 16, & Core 24 Plays
Here is my Base 8 +1 Double Wing Play list. I chose the first 8 plays from the
RAM Double Tight Double Wing formation since many coaches are familiar with
this variation of the Double Wing Offense, and my Top 5 DW Plays blog post
inspired this DW eBook.
The next 8 plays that make up the Sweet 16 are from my Speed DW formation. I
have run the Speed DW formation variation since 2007. You must have Speed to
run it effectively. It is very fun to Coach when it fires on all cylinders.
The final 8 plays that make up the Core 24 are from all the DW formations in
the eBook and are for highly experienced and skilled youth football teams.
My experienced veteran youth football teams will run about 36 plays in total
after 2 or 3 seasons together as a backfield. I do not recommend that for every team,
especially younger teams. I have had some teams that could only run about 8 plays
during the entire season and others 36+. For the majority of youth football teams,
the Core 24 should suffice. Enjoy!
