low or high density serving areas
Optiworx™ ISX3040 Optical Node
Application Description
The ISX 3040 can be configured to meet a wide range of broadband HFC architectures. In the standard
configuration, each of the four output ports can be set for high output levels required by conventional
networks. The 3040 can also be set for a wide range of output levels and tilt for trunk and bridger applications.

Return Path Configuration Modules (RCFG) allow numerous return path solutions. For example, the 2 x 2
RCFG splits the node serving area to a pair of transmitters, providing a 100% increase in return bandwidth.
Using a digital return path transmitter, it’s possible to dedicate a signal path for each port, providing a 300%
increase in return bandwidth. For example, a 500 Homes Passed (HP) node (forward segmentation) can be

segmented in the return path to 125 HP. Many other RCFG options are available for customized RP networks
and are included in the ordering information section of this datasheet.
