Cherry Tree

-eight years had passed since the author planted the cherry tree
-the poet planted the cherry tree because he wanted to have a plant of his own
-the poet watered it once and forgot about the tree
-that summer in the end of may the poet found that the cherry plant had grew into a tree
-it was five months old
-tall grass surrounded it and it was almost not visible
-goats ate the leaves
-the grass cutters scythe cut it apart
-monsoon rain dried up its stem
-next spring the poet saw three new shoots grow
-the next year the poet left and spent a season in kashmir
-the poet returned and was in poor health
-the tree had now grown to a height of 6 feet
-it also had a berry now
-and the year after that the tree grew small, pink, fragile blossoms that fell at the smallest
breeze
-bees drank nectar from the blossoms
-the moon moths, singing crickets and him praised the night, stars and the tree
