COUNTER MACHINE’
When the start switch ‘S1’ is pushed, the indicator lamp’IN’ is lighted
up and at the same time the conveyor belt is moving by motor to carry
the apples, then passing the sensor ‘S3’ or counting. After the counter
INSTRUCTION : counts for 10 apples then the motor stopped. But the indicator is still On
to show that the machine is on operation. After resetting the reset switch
‘S4’ the motor is then running again to make the next count and fills
into the box. To stop the machine from operation, the stop switch ‘S2’
is pressed.

Safety :
Make sure the wearing is suitable for the
work.
Avoid wear the metal materials.
Avoid playing while doing work.
a) Prepare and identify all the material and
1. Setting a PLC equipment that will be used in this practical lab.
(See the TEM list)
b) Check PLC trainer to make sure it working.
Power on the PLC trainer.
Make sure the PWR indicator is ON.
Writing a simple ladder program into PLC
trainer to test their input and output
Power OFF the PLC trainer
PROCEDURE

DPP C2(c)-1
a) Write declaration input and output
2. Draw ladder programming into PLC b) Draw the ladder diagram follow the table below
using Programming Console (PC) based on Figure 1a.
Note:
For figure 1 write a ladder diagram first and
then follow by mnemonic codes.
b) Write the mnemonic codes into PLC trainer.
Power ON the PLC trainer
Switch the Programming Console (PC) key
to “PROGRAM MODE”
Clear the PC password by key-in the
CLRMNTR-CLR.
Write the mnemonic codes using the
Programming Console
Note:
PLC memory must be clear first before enter
the new program. (CSNRMC)
a) Test the programming functioning.
i. Switch the Programming Console key to
“RUN MODE”.
ii. Switching the addressed input (depend on
how many input are used) to each it’s
combination.
3. Make installation iii. Observe and describe shortly it’s application/
operation. State your answer in the result
column.
iv. Ask your instructor to prove your experiment
by getting their signature. If any of the PLC
trainers is not working properly, consult with
your instructor.
4. Test / run the PLC output c) Housekeeping
After you had finished your experiment, take down
the circuit and return all the equipment to its proper
place.

QUESTION/DISCUSSION :
1. What type of TIMER provided in CPM2A PLC?
On-delay timer (TON), Off-delay timer (TOF) and pulse-timer (TP).
2. How many type of TIMER can be used in PLC?
Three, The on-delay timer, – The off-delay timer, – The retentive on-delay timer
3. How many TIMERS can be designed in CPM2A & CQM1H PLC?
Since CPM2A have 8 inputs, timer can be designed in it is 8.
4. State 3 advantages of TIMER application in industry?
- Use for the delay action.
- It's used to start and stop operations according to the user's instruction
- Time settings can be easily changed.
5. Design a Delay OFF (TOF) ladder diagram using Delay ON Timer (TON)?
CONCLUSION :
Timers and counters are essential elements of PLC programming, especially for ladder logic.
They allow you to control the timing and counting of events, such as turning on or off devices,
triggering alarms, or executing subroutines. It is a device that counts down from a specified
time interval and used to generate a time delay, for example, an hourglass is a timer. Timers
are used to delay actions, or to keep an output on or off for a specific time.A counter is a
device that stores (and sometimes displays) the number of times a particular event or
process occurred, with respect to a clock signal.
