Azrian: good day everyone, thank you for joining us today in this very important
press conference. We are here to address the serious issues about global warming
and discuss what steps we should take inorder to prevent or lessen the effects of it.
We are pleased to have Mr. Tupas, an environmental scientist and also an activist to
discuss this on us.
Ethan: thank you Mr. Ventura, as we all know: global warming is not a distant
threat, it is an immediate reality. The last few decades have shown unprecedented
increases in global temperatures, leading to severe weather events, rising sea
levels, and disrupted ecosystem. We must act now to reduce greenhouse gas
emissions and transition to reneweable sources of energy.
Azrian: Thank you, Mr Tupas. Now I’d like to introduce Mr. Gayomali, an
environmental advocate.
Ronmel: Thank you. It’s crucial to recognize that global warming greatly affects
vulnerable communities. We must ensure that our climate solutions are equitable
and inclusive. This means prioritizing support for those most impacted and ensuring
access to resources for adaptation and mitigation. Climate action is not just about
the environment; it’s about justice.
Azrian: Thank you, Mr. Gayomali. We will now open the floor for questions. Please
state your name and affiliation before asking your question.
Jashmin: Goodmorning sir, Jashmin from BVNHS. What specific actions are being
proposed to combat global warming?
Ethan: We propose a multifaceted approach that includes increasing investments in
renewable energy, enforcing stricter regulations on emissions, and enhancing public
transportation systems. Additionally, we must invest in carbon capture technologies
and reforestation initiatives.
Regiene: Goodmorning, Balajadia from INHS. How can individuals contribute to the
fight against global warming?
Ronmel: Individuals can make a difference by reducing energy consumption,
supporting sustainable products, and advocating for climate policies. Every action
counts, and collective efforts can lead to significant change.
Ethan: another issue is deforestation. Deforestation is a pressing global issue,
contributing significantly to climate change, loss of biodiversity, and disruption of
ecosystems. Currently, we lose about 10 million hectares of forests each year,
primarily due to agriculture, logging, and urban expansion. This loss not only affects
wildlife but also threatens indigenous communities and our planet's health. As an
activist on the ground, I’ve witnessed the devastating effects of deforestation
firsthand. Communities that depend on forests for their livelihoods are being pushed
to the brink. We need stronger policies and sustainable practices that prioritize the
protection of our forests. It’s vital for all stakeholders—governments, businesses,
and individuals—to collaborate in creating solutions.
Ronmel: Deforestation is not just a local issue; it’s a global crisis that demands
international cooperation. Organizations worldwide are working on innovative
reforestation projects and sustainable land-use practices. However, funding and
political will are critical. We must also engage consumers to make sustainable
choices that do not contribute to deforestation.
Azrian: Thank you for those insights. Now, we’ll open the floor to questions. Please
state your name and afflitiation.
Herje ly: Goodmorning. Ecita from greenwarriors organization. What specific
policies do you believe are most effective in combating deforestation?
Ronmel: Effective policies include stricter regulations on logging, promoting
sustainable agriculture, and incentivizing reforestation efforts. Additionally,
enforcing land rights for indigenous communities is crucial, as they often serve as
the best guardians of these ecosystems.
May: Goodmorning. I’m May from love mother Earth organization, How can
individuals contribute to this cause?
Ethan: Individuals can make a significant impact by supporting sustainable
products, reducing paper and plastic use, and advocating for forest protection in
their communities. Every action count.
Rhon: Rhon from greenwarriors organization also. What role does technology play
in addressing deforestation?
Ethan:Technology plays a transformative role—rom satellite monitoring to track
deforestation to apps that promote sustainable practices among farmers.
Leveraging technology can enhance transparency and efficiency in conservation
efforts.
Gabriella: gab from bvnhs. Can we really stop deforestation?
Ronmel: we can stop it if we have self discipline and abide the rules.
Azrian: This concludes our press conference. Thank you for attending, and let’s
work together to make a difference.
