staffing, leaders are more intent on thinking ahead

3. Position vs. Quality
• The title “manager” often denotes a specific role within an

• Manager is a title. It’s a role and set of responsibilities,”
• . Leadership is the result of action. If you act in a way that inspires,
encourages, or engages others, you are a leader.
• A leader may not have a title of a Manager
• And A Manager may NOT be a LEADER!

synonymous.

• 1 Planning & Decision-Making –
• Involves selecting goals and objectives,
• as well as the actions to achieve them;
• it requires decision-making,
• choosing the “best” from among alternatives. •
2 Organizing –
• roles for people to fill in an organization. –
• allocating and arranging human and non-human
resources
• so that plans can be carried out successfully
3 Staffing
• – Process by which managers select, train,
promotes, and retires subordinate
• – Involves filling, and keeping filled, the
positions in the organization structure.

4 Directing/Leading
• – Influencing people so that they will
contribute to organizational and group goals.

5.Controlling
• – Measuring and correcting individual and
organizational performance
• to ensure that events conform to plans/
organizational standards.

• 1 Strategic Managers
• who are ultimately responsible for the entire
organization.
• Typical titles include CEO, “President”,

Tactical Managers
• 2 Tactical Managers
• located beneath the top levels of the hierarchy
• who are directly responsible for the work of managers
at lower levels

3 Operational Managers
• at the lowest level of the hierarchy who are directly responsible for
the work of operating (nonmanagerial) employees.

with a healthy diet.

EFFECIENCY
• assesses the ability to achieve the goal set
using the minimum resources needed.
• These Fundamental resources are:
• Time
• Resources
• Cost.
• It is the ability to achieve it with the minimum
possible allocation of resources
Effeciency
• Efficiency is a measure of how well a certain
aspect is performing.
• (doing the things “right”)
• accomplish something with the least waste
of time and effort;
Example from Life:
on Effeciency
• Ever tried to impress someone with your cooking, so
you efficiently prep and cook a meal in record
time,!!!
• only to realize you made something they’re allergic to?
• Efficient? Yes.
• Effective? Not so much.
