ENGINEERING SURVEYING – II (CE-201)
FALL SEMSTER 2024
BATCH 2023
COMPLEX ENGINEERING PROBLEM (CEP)
Preamble
After completion of a construction project an as-built drawing is created to clearly communicate the
constructed sizes, dimensions, alignments and placement of different built elements in the project. As-
built drawing helps the user in the operation and maintenance phase as well as for future expansion.
Therefore, it is important for an engineer to clearly understand the concept of as-built drawing and
should be able to acquire data and produce the as-built drawing of any facility.
Objective
By using manual and digital techniques develop an as-built drawing (2D/3D) of the building, road or
facility or its part located at NED university, main campus.
Tasks: (CLO-2)
1. Search and select method, tools (including softwares) and techniques of surveying for producing
an as-built drawing of infrastructure.
2. Create the geo-referenced as-built with the help of given GCPs (ground control points) and on-site
surveys.
3. Produce and submit a CEP report (.docx file format).
4. Submit the as-built in the CAD format (.dwg; .dfx; .dwt etc).
Instructions:
1. This is a group activity with group size of maximum 4 students.
2. Report should consist of following sections:
i. Title Page
ii. Abstract
iii. Table of content
iv. Introduction
v. Literature Review
vi. Methodology of Survey
vii. Development of As-Built drawing
viii. Conclusions
ix. References
x. Appendix
3. In your report, use Times New Roman font and set the font size to 12.
4. At least four research papers should be referenced properly.
5. You are encouraged to consult reliable videos and encyclopaedia.
6. For referencing, you can use Mendeley or Endnote.
7. You should use infographics, maps and illustrations in your report and presentation for effective
delivery of the topic.
8. Take teacher’s approval for site selection before survey. Ensure lab and safety protocols.
9. Handle the survey equipment with care and safety. Otherwise, penalized for any damage.
10. The rubric sheet for evaluating your project is included in this PDF. Please remember to bring
it on the day of submission.
11. The submission of your report is due in 14th week
