ABOUT SECTION 8C FOR VEHICLES WITH INTEGRATED ELECTRONICS
A new system of integrated electronics was introduced on production in early 2001 at VIN
AAAAAA. The principal change involved the introduction of a central control unit (CCU) that
took over a number of functions within the vehicle electrical system, reducing the number of
separate control modules. For example there is no longer a separate direction indicator relay
or alarm ECU or rear door motion locking (IDDS) ECU. The CCU is located behind the
detachable glove box. The fuse box for those circuits that are controlled by the central
control unit (CCU) is incorporated into the CCU itself. The fuses for the remaining circuits not
controlled by the CCU are in a small separate fuse box immediately above the CCU. A new
remote locking and alarm capable key fob with two buttons was introduced. There is also a
‘touch key’ provided that overrides the immobiliser and optional alarm (where fitted).
The complete list of circuits controlled by the new central control unit is as follows.
1.Flasher and hazard warning
2.Rear fog lamp control
3.Front fog lamp control
4.Front screen wiper and washer system
5.Rear screen wiper and washer system
6.Central door locking system
7.Front windows
8.Courtesy lamp delay
9.Speed transducer conversion for speedometer & taximeter
10.Heated rear screen timer
11.Immobiliser system
12. Alarm
13.Motion locking on rear passenger doors
14.Intercom communication system
15.Wheelchair seatbelt alarm
16.Lights on warning
Note: At the time of writing (January 2001) these changes are only effective on Right Hand
Circuit

vehicles. Left Hand Drive vehicles built after VIN AAAAAA will be to the earlier
specification. Dealers should always refer to Technical Service Bulletins (TSB) for details of
up-to-date changes to the product.

WIRING DIAGRAMS Section 8C
Introduction
Each wiring diagram in this manual covers an
individual system on the vehicle. Each diagram
is schematic, and wherever possible
components are set out as on the vehicle -
normally with the front of the vehicle to the top
of the page. Only Right Hand Drive vehicles
from VIN AAAAAA are covered in this section 8C.
For the wiring diagrams of all other vehicles refer
to section 8B.
Colour coded wiring is reintroduced and used
throughout Integrated Electronics equipped
vehicles. Each wire in the circuit is identified by
its colour code (one or two letters) followed by a
number. The first letter is the primary colour
code of the wire, the second letter indicating
the colour of any tracer marking on the wire.
The wiring colour codes and fuse layout and
ratings are shown in the table below and the
diagram overleaf. The wire numbers shown
following the colour codes have no particular
significance in service except to assist in the
identification of a particular wire if it is necessary
to seek assistance from the manufacturer.
The fuse box layout and fuse ratings are shown
on page 5. The harnesses are shown on pages 6
& 7. The locations of the ECUs and relays are
shown on page 8. The locations of connectors
and earthing points referred to in the wiring
diagrams are shown on pages 9 &10. The terms
left, right, front, rear, LHS and RHS are relative
to the driving position, facing the front of the
vehicle. For example, left hand front will be what
is colloquially known as ‘nearside front’.
