Pre COVID-19 and Post COVID-19 effect & Last 10 Year

On Sanitizer Industry
Wars and pandemics drastically shift consumer behaviour. When
people live in uncertain and anxious times, companies innovate to provide needed
solutions. This is not a new phenomenon but has been true for aeons. What was a
luxury once becomes a priority. For example, in the early days of the Spanish Flu,
hygiene came into the foray very similar to what has happened with the spread of
the novel coronavirus. In 1889 Lizol was born as a disinfectant brand to help end a
cholera epidemic in Germany. In 1918 during the Spanish Flu, Lizol grew
significantly as a company. Today Lizol is a household brand and disinfection a
necessity. There has been much development since the Spanish Flu scientists and
doctors, today understand the importance of hand hygiene to prevent death or
infection.

1980s when ordinary consumers started using hand sanitizers. This trend was

rising awareness as various viruses in very close proximity have erupted such
as Ebola, H1NI, Mers, Sars, each with a potential threat to become a
pandemic. The data confers this rise in consciousness as the hand sanitizer

the product saw a lot of variations starting from being expensive pre-
pandemic to becoming a premium product during the mass shortage to now

With the sudden outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the World

sanitizers for self- preservation and minimizing the spread of the
coronavirus. The increasing number of deaths caused by the virus has
further triggered an alarming response from consumers, thereby
increasing the emphasis on hand hygiene as a preventive measure
from contracting the infection. Moreover, the implementation of the
Swachh Bharat Mission by the Government of India and various other
campaigns by the private organizations that involve providing hand
sanitizers at railway stations, hospitals, shopping malls and educational
institutes has also created a positive impact on the product demand.
The increasing demand for hand sanitizers is further supported
by the rising prevalence of various gastrointestinal, respiratory and
skin infections among the masses. Alcohol-based hand sanitizers can
minimize the transmission of harmful bacteria and viruses present on
the skin or palm of the hands, thereby reducing the instances of
stomach infections, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting. Hospitals and
healthcare centers are also widely using hand sanitizers to prevent the
transmission of hospital-acquired infections (HAIs). In comparison to
the traditionally used hand washes and soaps, hand sanitizers are
more effective in disinfecting and minimizing dryness and irritation on
the skin. Product manufacturers are developing sanitizers with natural

nature.
