Purpose of the role
The Junior-level Integration Engineer supports the development and maintenance of integration solutions,
assisting in the connection of various data products, services, and platforms. Under the guidance of more
experienced engineers, they will learn to implement integration processes using technologies such as
Mulesoft and AWS Services. This role provides an opportunity to build foundational skills, contribute to
technical delivery, and gain hands-on experience in creating seamless data flows across systems.

Technical Delivery
• Assist in the development of data products, services, and platforms, with a focus on learning
integration solutions.
• Help maintain integration platforms and provide support for systems within and external to the
Data & Integration team.
• Contribute to the implementation of APIs and integration processes under the guidance of senior
team members.
• Help monitor data integrity by supporting validation processes, ensuring data quality and smooth
data flows across systems.
Technical Collaboration
• Work closely with senior engineers and team members to learn and adopt best practices,
methodologies, and tools that improve integration processes.
• Participate in team discussions and knowledge-sharing activities, contributing to continuous
learning and improvement initiatives.
Communications and relationship building
• Maintain clear communication with team members, providing updates on tasks and challenges.
• Assist in gathering feedback from users and help incorporate improvements based on guidance
from more experienced team members.

What is the major impact of this role on the business?
The engineers within the local chapter will contribute to large and business critical solutions with potentially
10,000’s of external users as well as 1000’s of internal users
Decisions
The job holder is expected to have a foundational understanding of data integration engineering and
exercise good judgment in making technical decisions appropriate to their level of expertise. They should
seek guidance and direction from senior engineers on more complex issues while taking responsibility for
tasks they are capable of handling. The job holder is also responsible for taking ownership of their
professional development, ensuring they continue to learn and grow their skills. As part of a multi-disciplinary
team, they assist in estimating, committing to, and delivering solutions with quality and timeliness.

Essential knowledge
• An understanding of APIs and how they enable systems to work together.
• Data manipulation techniques or tools (e.g., DataWeave, JSON).
• Programming skills in Java, JavaScript, or other languages.

• Knowledge of databases (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB, PostgreSQL).
• Knowledge of AWS services (e.g., Lambda, S3, SNS, or SQS).
Essential skill(s) & experience
• University degree in a numeric or technical subject, or equivalent practical experience.
• Basic knowledge or academic coursework in data engineering, integration, software development or
related fields.
• Some familiarity with SQL /No SQL databases or other data storage technologies through academic
coursework or internships.
• An interest in learning and working with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.
• A team-oriented attitude with the ability to collaborate and learn from others in a technical environment.
• Strong communication skills and an eagerness to share and explain your ideas
