Please note that recommended/supported hardware and software configurations are constantly subject to review, so
please consult the AVEVA support web pages for the latest recommendations.

Prerequisite for this release - products:

AVEVA Licensing System 1.0 and an appropriate License File (N.B. This product version
does NOT work with AVEVA Flexman)

Microsoft Office 2007 or 2010 (32-bit) is required for some functions:

Optimum operation of the AVEVA Design Platform GUI requires Arial Unicode MS font,
supplied with Microsoft Office (2000 onwards) and also with Microsoft Office Visio.
Microsoft Office Excel import requires “.NET Programmability Support” enabled when
Office is installed. This can be found under “Advanced customization of applications” and
installs the Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.dll; without this, Excel import will not work.

Microsoft Office Visio 2007 or 2010 (Standard edition, 32-bit) is required for AVEVA Diagrams and
for the AVEVA Schematic Model Viewer.

Please read the installation guide, which is visible on the DVD and will be placed under the
product\manuals folder once the product install (setup.exe) has been run.

Please note that there is now a combined installer for Hull & Outfitting and the associated
products listed above. This can be configured by using the check boxes to install a selection of
products; it may also be used to add additional ones or remove them at a later date.
Simple installations (using setup.exe) will install to C:\ but the individual .msi files will use the
default drive.
If you require sample projects, please ensure that you check the „Hull & Outfitting models‟ box.
The Global tick-box installs the necessary support for Global use of Hull & Outfitting. There is
a separate installer for the Global server; please note that there is no longer a tick-box option
to install it with Hull & Outfitting.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

Production Support for Frameworks

The possibility to select a Framework graphically in the 2D canvas or to get relevant options when
Right-Clicking a Framework in the 2D canvas is dependent on the optional database upgrade
defined in AVEVA Marine 12.1 SP3. See the AVEVA Marine 12.1 SP3 bulletin note 19.9 Layers
for Outfitting Models for details.
New Representation
When setting SBH_ENABLE_SOLID_PLATES shell plates can now be represented using a
Generic Primitive created from the referenced surface and the involved seams in that surface.
The new representation is used also when generating bending templates. If issues are
encountered, it is recommended not to use this setting.
New Bending Templates IP
The new bending templates IP named LARGESIGHTLINEMARK is subject to change in a coming
hotfix release and should not yet be used.
Datasheets Performance and Printers
Performance of some features, such as the new Datasheets, may be impaired if your default
printer is not accessible. This is believed to be due to the use of Excel functions; a detailed
investigation is under way.
Support for Datasheet Templates Created in Foreign Project Databases
The current released version of “Datasheets ” in AVEVA PDMS 12.1.SP4 does not support
datasheet templates created in foreign project dictionary. All datasheet
templates “MUST” be created in the current project dictionary database for them to be available
for use in AVEVA Engineering -Tags.
Installation
There is a prerequisite to have Windows Explorer as your default Internet browser If you choose
to install from the DVD‟s html menu, other browsers might have a different behaviour that
prevents a successful installation.

After the Marine installation has completed an installation of the AVEVA Database Cache Service
is started automatically. A prerequisite for AVEVA Database Cache Service is that the Microsoft
Message Queuing (MSMQ) is enabled. For a description of enabling the MSMQ and the use of
AVEVA Database Cache Service, please refer to chapter AVEVA Database Cache Service in the
Marine Software Installation Guide.

Database Optional Upgrade

The database upgrade framework is extended with a concept of optional upgrades. The software
requires a database to be upgraded to a certain level to be granted write access to the database.
But beyond that mandatory upgrade level it is now possible to apply further optional upgrade
levels to acquire new enhanced features. For more information please see the Data Management
and Database Administrator User Guide / Database Upgrade.

The impact of the PML Form Layout Changes

PML developers using the new Forms and Menues libraries, may discover unacceptable changes
to the layout of some existing forms. The fix for the layout changes is usually straight forward. For
further information please see item KB4453 in the Knowledge Base .

P&ID Integration UDA Definition Change

If using the AVEVA P&ID to Tags integration in Compare/Update, please note that the integration
UDA pmg-engi-pid should have its UDA Length increased to 150 characters.
Global
By default Global is not installed in the same folder as Marine, however it is possible to modify the
installations to use the same folder. If this is done, and then one product is un-installed, the other
product installation will require repair.

PRODUCT QUALITY STATEMENT

The development, maintenance and testing of AVEVA Solutions‟ software products is carried out
in accordance with the company‟s KEYSTONE lifecycle processes and this document includes a
summary of the testing carried out on this release and a list of significant defects known to exist at
the time of release.

Development Testing
Developers have carried out unit testing of each enhancement and/or fix in the development
environment to verify that any new functionalities have been correctly implemented and identified
defects have been corrected.

Regression tests have been run in the development environment to verify that enhancements
and/or fixes have not adversely affected the integrity of the product.

System Testing
Independent system testing has been carried out on the product, as released, to verify that it
installs correctly in all supported configurations and that product functionality operates as
intended, subject to a known exceptions listed below.

Acceptance Testing
This document has been prepared before Acceptance Testing. This product release will be
subjected to an acceptance test by AVEVA‟s Group Solutions Centre.

Any exceptions found during Acceptance Testing or after release will be reported in the Product
Release Latest Update Note on AVEVA's support web site.
