Chapter 5: Mrs. Plum’s Monster Essay Assignment
Harold and George were still riding high from their victory over Todd when they walked into
Mrs. Plum’s English class. Mrs. Plum was known for her eccentric assignments, and today was
no different. She stood at the front of the class, her wild hair and colorful outfit making her look
like she had just stepped out of a storybook.
“Good morning, class!” Mrs. Plum said with a wide smile. “Today, I have a very special
assignment for you. I want each of you to write an essay about a monster of your own creation.
Be as creative as you can!”
Harold and George exchanged excited glances. This was the perfect opportunity to come up with
their next big prank. As Mrs. Plum handed out the assignment sheets, Harold’s mind was already
racing with ideas.
“Let’s create a monster that will scare the entire school,” Harold whispered to George.
George grinned. “I’m in. What do you have in mind?”
Harold explained his plan. They would create a fake monster and use it to prank the entire
school. It would be their biggest and most elaborate prank yet. They spent the rest of the class
brainstorming ideas and sketching out their monster.
After school, they gathered supplies and started building their creation. They used cardboard,
paint, and old clothes to create a life-sized monster. They even added glowing eyes and a speaker
to make it roar. It looked terrifyingly real.
The next morning, they snuck into the school early and set up their monster in the science lab.
They rigged it to move and make noise when someone entered the room. Then, they waited for
the chaos to unfold.
As students arrived and heard the rumors about the monster in the science lab, curiosity got the
better of them. A group of students gathered outside the lab, daring each other to go inside.
Finally, one brave student opened the door, and the monster roared to life.
Screams echoed down the hallway as students ran in all directions. The monster’s glowing eyes
and terrifying roar sent everyone into a panic. Harold and George watched from a safe distance,
laughing at the chaos they had created.
But their laughter was cut short when they saw Principal Crumple marching towards the science
lab, his face a mask of fury. He burst into the lab and quickly realized the monster was a fake. He
turned to the crowd of students and demanded to know who was responsible.
Harold and George knew they were in big trouble. They tried to slip away, but Todd, still
covered in slime from the previous prank, pointed them out. “It was them!” he shouted.
Principal Crumple’s eyes narrowed as he marched over to Harold and George. “You two again?
This is the last straw. Detention for a month!”
Harold and George exchanged glances. They knew they had pushed their luck too far this time.
As they were led away to detention, Harold couldn’t help but feel a pang of guilt. But George’s
infectious laughter soon had him smiling again.
“We’ll get through this,” George said confidently. “And we’ll come up with an even better prank
next time.”
Harold nodded. “Yeah, but maybe we should lay low for a while. We don’t want to end up in
detention for the rest of the year.”
George agreed. “Good idea. But whatever we do next, it’s going to be epic.”
