Civil Work Inspection Report

Project Name: [Insert Project Name]

Location: [Insert Location]
Date: [Insert Date]
Inspector Name: [Insert Name]

Findings:
1. Column Tie Spacing:
○ As per design, column ties should be Ø10mm @ 100mm C/C.
○ Issue: Actual spacing observed does not comply with the design specifications.
2. Beam Stirrups:
○ Design specifies that stirrups at the column section should be bent at 135°.
○ Issue: Stirrups were bent at 90°, which is against the design requirements.
3. Lapping in Tension Zone:
○ Lapping in the tension zone of the main bars was provided, which is not
recommended.
○ Laps are placed at the same height, which is also against standard practices.
4. Steel Binding Wire:
○ Steel wires used for binding rebars were found to be corroded and have lost
their required strength.
5. Column Rebars Placement:
○ Two rebars in the column are not properly aligned and are placed in the tension
zone, which is not recommended.
6. Corroded Rebars:
○ Rebars have significant corrosion and must be cleaned before concrete casting.
7. Lack of Plans:
○ No electrical and architectural plans were available on site.
8. Cement Storage:
○ Cement was stored in the open for over 20 days. Prolonged exposure may
compromise its quality.

Observations and Recommendations:

1. Column Ties:
○ Ensure column ties maintain Ø10mm @ 100mm C/C, including at the beam-
column lapping section.
2. Beam Stirrups:
○ All stirrups must be bent at 135° as per the design.
3. Lapping in Tension Zone:
○ Lapping in the tension zone is an unrecoverable fault. This issue should be
strictly avoided in future construction phases.
4. Steel Binding Wires:
○ Rebind affected rebars with fresh, corrosion-free steel wire where necessary.
5. Column Rebar Placement:
○ Misplaced rebars in the tension zone must be corrected using couplers or
welding, as improper placement is not acceptable.
6. Corroded Rebars:
○ Clean all corroded rebars thoroughly before concrete casting.
7. Electrical Planning:
○ Electrical planning must be completed prior to casting to avoid mismatches or
rework.
8. Cement Storage:
○ Cement stored in the open for over 30 days should not be used for structural
casting.

Tests Required:
1. Rebar Tension Test:
○ Evaluate the tensile strength of the rebars.
2. Concrete Strength Test (NDT):
○ Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) to assess concrete strength and quality.
