(NUMERICAL VALUE TYPE QUESTIONS)
This section contains 5 Questions. The answer to each question is NUMERICAL VALUE with twodigit integer
and decimal upto one digit.

16. A block is suspended at the end of a heavy string as shown. Find acceleration in dm/s2 of a transverse
pulse created at bottom of the string. (Take g = 9.8 m/s2)

17. A long wire PQR is made by joining two wires PQ and QR of equal radii. PQ has a length 4.8 m and
mass 0.06 kg. QR has length 2.56 m and mass 0.2 kg. The wire PQR is under a tension of 80 N. A
sinusoidal wave pulse of amplitude 3.5 cm is sent along the wire PQ from the end P. No power is
dissipated during the propagation of wave pulse. Find amplitude (in mm) of reflected pulse from
jucntion Q.

18. A point source of power 50 watts is producing sound waves. The velocity of sound is 330 m/s, density

of air is 1.0 kgm–3. Then (using  = 22/7) at r = 330 m from the point source then the pressure
amplitude is x Nm–2. Find the value of x.

19. An open organ pipe of length 90 cm is vibrating in second overtone. Find distance (in cm) between
consecutive displacement node and pressure node.

20. Two sound waves with wavelength 5m and 5.5m respectively, each propagate in a gas with velocity
330 m/s, then the number of beat per second is x. Find x.
