PANCTUATION - Punctuation is a system of marks


and symbols used in written language to clarify
meaning, separate structural units, and enhance
readability. It guides readers on how to interpret
the text, indicating pauses, emphasis, and the
relationships between words and phrases.
PERIODS- It's used as a way to emphasize agreement or to
indicate that a statement is final and there's no
further discussion needed.

UESTIONMARKS- The question mark (?), also known as an interrogation
point, is a punctuation mark that signifies a question. It's
like a signal to the reader that the sentence is asking for
information or confirmation.

EXCLAMATIONPOINTS- An exclamation point (or exclamation mark), denoted by the
symbol "!", is a punctuation mark used in writing to express
strong feelings or emotions, such as surprise, excitement,
emphasis, or urgency. It is often used at the end of a sentence
or phrase to indicate a strong statement or a sudden
interruption.

COMMAS- a commonly used punctuation mark that is used to separate two
words, phrases or clauses in a sentence.

SEMICOLONS AND COLONS- A colon ) is used to introduce information
set up by the previous clause. It's
typically used before a list, example, or
explanation. A semicolon ( is used to join
related independent clauses together in
the same sentence without a conjunction.

APOSTROPHES- YApostrophes are a crucial part of written English, and
using them correctly can make a big difference in the

PARENTHESES AND BRACKETS- Parentheses, ( ), are used to add extra
information in text, while brackets, [ ], are used
mainly in quotations to add extra information

HYPHENS AND DASHES- Hyphens are used to join two or more words together to

writing. These mistakes can range from simple oversights, like
forgetting a period at the end of a sentence, to more complex
issues, such as confusing the use of commas, semicolons, and colons.
Read the following sentences and add the correct punctuation marks where needed.
You can use commas, periods, question marks, exclamation points, apostrophes, and
ACTIVITY: quotation marks.
