Install Agent
1
In a previous tutorial, you
identified and collected two
components of every agent
installation: 1) the agent installer
and 2) the installation command.
2
When using third-party
applications to build custom
deployment packages for
hundreds or thousands of hosts,
these two components should be
included.
3
Presently, we are on a Windows 10
host, where I have already
transferred the agent installer and
installation command to the
Windows Desktop.

Install Agent
4
The agent installer has a Qualys
logo icon and the installation
command (to its right) is in a plain
text file.
5
The Command Prompt window is
already dialed-in to the Window
Desktop directory path.
I'll execute the directory command
to validate the presence of the
agent installer.
6
The output reveals 'QualysCloudA
gent.exe' is present.
The installation command is
already copied to the Clipboard, so
I'll just paste and execute it in the
Command Prompt window

7
The installer completes quickly
without any special notifications
or messages.
8
To validate a successful
installation, open the Windows
Task Manager and look for the
Qualys Agent process.
In this example, Qualys Cloud
Agent is at the very top of the
Processes list.
9
To find the Cloud Agent Log file
navigate to the ProgramData\Qual
ys\QualysAgent folder (on the
system drive).

The agent log file ('Log.txt') in
this directory, provides useful
information for analysis and
troubleshooting. I'll use the type
command to take a quick look at
the log file.
11
As you can see, the agent log file
wasn't designed for casual
reading, but it is very helpful
when performing agent analysis
or trouble shooting.
