NARRATIVE REPORT OF ACCOMPLISHMENTS
I. Introduction
As the Barangay Nutrition Scholar of Barangay Concepcion, I am tasked with ensuring the nutritional
well-being of children under five years old. Since assuming my role in July 2024, I have collaborated with
various sectors to address malnutrition and promote health and sustainability. This report highlights the
accomplishments achieved from July to December 2024, in alignment with the Barangay Nutrition Action
Plan (BNAP) for 2025.
II. Key Accomplishments
A. Nutrition Activities and Programs
1. Feeding Program
1.1 Regular feeding sessions were organized for undernourished children with the support of the
Barangay Health Committee.
1.2 These sessions addressed immediate nutritional needs and educated parents on preparing
balanced meals.
1.3 Improvements in weight and health were observed among beneficiaries.
2. Community Garden
2.1 In partnership with the HAPAG project, a community garden was established to enhance food
security.
2.2 Families participated in planting and maintaining the garden, fostering community ownership
and responsibility.
B. Monitoring and Health Interventions
1. Regular Weighing Sessions
1.1 Monthly assessments and a full weighing in December ensured the continuous tracking of
growth and development in children under five years old.
2. Vitamin Supplementation
2.1 Distribution of Vitamin A supplements and micronutrient powder (MNP) improved the
dietary intake of targeted beneficiaries.
3. PhilPen and Health Mapping
3.1 Assisted in health mapping and participated in PhilPen activities to identify areas needing
targeted interventions to combat malnutrition.
C. Community Engagement
1. Barangay Nutrition Council
1.1 Facilitated the organization of the Barangay Nutrition Council.
1.2 Held its inaugural meeting in December to plan and implement nutrition-focused programs.
2. Meetings with Parents
2.1 Conducted a general meeting with parents of children under five years old.
2.2 Initiated clustering for enhanced monitoring and engagement, which significantly increased
parental accountability and involvement.
3. Social Media Initiative
3.1 Created a Facebook page for the Barangay Nutrition Council.
3.2 Used the page to promote transparency and provide updates on nutrition programs, progress,
and events.
D. Partnerships and Collaboration
1. Assistance During Medical Missions
1.1 Supported German doctors during medical visits, contributing to improved health outcomes
for the community.
2. Participation in Barangay-Wide Activities
2.1 Actively participated in clean-up drives and Oplan Galugad.
2.2 Emphasized the role of sanitation in promoting health and preventing illnesses linked to
malnutrition.
III. Challenges and Solutions
A. Limited Awareness of Programs
1. Leveraged social media platforms to share updates, engage the community, and attract potential
sponsors.
B. Low Parental Participation in Monitoring
1. Implemented parent clustering to encourage regular engagement and establish a supportive
network.
IV. Insights and Recommendations
A. Strengthening Stakeholder Partnerships
1. Building stronger partnerships and seeking additional funding will ensure the sustainability and
scalability of programs.
B. Expanding the Community Garden
1. Including more families and diversifying vegetable production will further enhance food security.
C. Capacity-Building for Parents and Volunteers
1. Providing continuous training will improve program outcomes and empower the community.
V. Conclusion
The accomplishments from July to December 2024 underscore the collaborative efforts of various
stakeholders in Barangay Concepcion. As a Barangay Nutrition Scholar, I actively contribute to nutrition-
focused programs while complementing existing barangay initiatives to avoid overlaps in responsibilities.
By organizing the Barangay Nutrition Council and supporting the development of the Barangay Nutrition
Action Plan, I have integrated nutrition and health initiatives into broader development goals. As we
transition into 2025, I remain committed to fostering community engagement, promoting child
development, and building a healthier and more resilient barangay.
