PREFACE

Dear Students,
Summer Vacation is a welcome break…… Break from fixed schedule, rules and
regulations of school. Freedom brings more responsibility, keeping this in mind,
we have planned most of the activities to keep you engaged positively and your
energies well directed. Though teachers will not be physically present to keep a
supervisory eye on you and your work, guardian angles at home i.e. your dear
mama and papa are there to take care of your emotional, social, physical &
academic needs. .We hope your homework will be well managed and presented
We wish you a wonderful time ahead!
Good habits and Good manners are lifelong assets and manners must be
practiced until they become a habit. Four magic words that are basics of good
manners are- Please, Thank you, Excuse me and sorry. Make these four words a
habit and see the difference.
Manners
At home:
• Help to keep the house clean especially the areas around you. Clear the
toys, books or craft that remain after you have finished.
• Honesty is the best policy. Tell the truth at all times.
• Be polite.
• Share the T.V time. Do not sit too close while watching T.V.
• Be fair with your friends, brothers and sisters.
• Be responsible.
At the dining table:
• Take small helping and refill, clean your plate.
• Take small bites, eat neatly, slowly with your mouth closed.
• Help to clean the table after having meal.
In the Park:
• Don’t destroy the plants or pluck the flowers as it spoils the beauty.
• Wait for your turn on swing and slides.

On the telephone:
• If there are no elders around, don’t let the phone ring long, answer it.
• Talk softly when someone is speaking on the phone and don’t interrupt.
Hygiene
• Brush your teeth twice a day.
• Trim your nails often.
• Do not waste water and electricity.
• Keep your surrounding and environment clean. It is bad habit to throw
things out of the window, car or a balcony.
• Make friends having good habits who respect their elders and use good
language.
General Instructions-

• Make one beautifully decorated folder each, separately, for each subject
• Holiday Homework must be done in a very neat and presentable manner
subject wise, in separate folders or files.
• Try to do your vacation work by yourself
• Do all work under the guidance of your parents.
• Holiday Homework of all the subjects must be submitted to the respective
teachers.
• You’ll be assessed on basis of handwriting, originality, creativity and
neatness.
• Enrich your vocabulary by learning the vocabulary words from Hindi &
English by reading books and newspapers

Instruction for Parents

• Take your child for a morning walk, talk about things you can see around.
• Play indoor games with your child.
• Let your child help around house doing small jobs like dusting, cleaning
the tables, filling water bottles, watering plants etc.
• spend quality time with your child,
• Communication will play pivotal role in grooming the overall personality
of the children. Converse your child preferably in English.
• Parents can be facilitator at home but the work should be done
independently by the child in his/her own handwriting.

In the thick of all the gloom and doom, there is a silver lining. Mother earth seems to have
rejuvenated itself – smog has given way to blue skies, marine life is seeing increased activity,
pollution levels have dropped.

Activity -1: Make some bird feed with some nuts and grains and leave it in your garden to
feed the birds. Keep a bowl of fresh water every day near the bird feed

Activity–2 : Nutrients

To find out the nutrients present in different packed food

Procedure

• Collect 5 packed items that are available in market.

• Make a list of nutrients found in them.

• Find out the amount of each of the nutrients present in them.

• Note down your observations.

• From your observations, which food items are good or not good for your health.

Activity–3 : Role of different nutrients

To identify the nutrients present in different foods and as per the function they perform.

Procedure

• Write names of nutrients present in different fruits and vegetables (sources of food).

• Paste the pictures of different sources of nutrients in your notebook.

• Also mention the importance of each nutrient.

Activity–4 : Staying Healthy the Cheaper way

Search internet/any other sources and find out easily available local, cheaper alternative food
items that can be included in diet to make it whole some and easily affordable.

E.g.:1. Expensive dry fruits/nuts can be replaced by groundnuts, chestnut etc.

2. Easily available chutney can replace expensive apple.

HISTORY

1)Imagine yourself to be a king/queen from history. Make your very own inscription and
manuscript. Material Required: A small piece of cloth, paint brush and colours, clay, a sharp
instrument (compass or a sharpened pencil) and make an inscription from the clay. You can
write/engrave a message for the people living in your kingdom along with your Royal seal.
