Q10. Include the details of the key tasks to be completed here in order of priority

1. Structural Analysis

Examines how the structure will response under different types of loads, including:

Dead loads ,Live loads, Wind and seismic loads. This also helps in determining the sizes of the
structural components like beams , columns, slab and footings.

2. Material Selection

Selecting the proper materials based on Strength and durability ,Wood species and grade , Moisture
content, Treatment options .

3. Load Calculations

Calculate all the loads that the structure will need to support, including vertical and horizontal
forces. This ensures the structure will be strong enough for everything it has to carry.

4. Design of Structural Elements

Design the key parts of the structure to withstand the loads. This includes Checking bending, shear
forces, and deflection to prevent failure or excessive movement.

5. Connection Design

Design the connections between timber pieces, using bolts, screws, or nails. These must be strong
enough to hold the structure together safely.

6. Stability Analysis

Check the overall stability of the structure to ensure it won’t collapse or twist. This includes
preventing issues like buckling, lateral movement, or instability from wind or earthquakes.

7. Compliance with Standards

Make sure the design follows all relevant building codes and regulations, including safety, fire
protection, and environmental rules.

8. Documentation and Drawings

Prepare clear, detailed drawings and plans that show how the structure will be built. This includes
dimensions, materials, and construction instructions.

9. Review and Approval

Submit the design to regulatory authorities and the client for approval. Make any necessary changes
based on their feedback.

10. Construction Support

Support the construction process by answering questions, clarifying details, and inspecting the site
to ensure the design is being followed correctly.

This simplified approach ensures that each step focuses on safety, functionality, and efficiency in
building a timber structure.

Q13. . You are required to review your work on the project (Occasion 1 & 2) by considering the
following questions:

a) What do you think you did well?

Made sure project was on schedule

b) What were the challenges for you?

Mitigating the delays caused by unforeseen events

c) What could be improved?

Pre construction planning

Q14.
Prepare an email to your manager providing your review as per the questions above. As a guide,
your email would include 2 to 3 paragraphs. Send your email to your manager, who will provide you
with feedback.

Dear Manager

I hope you're doing well. As part of my performance review, I wanted to share my selfassessment.
Over the past months, I’ve made progress in areas such as project management, and have worked
to meet deadlines and collaborate effectively with the team. I’ve also adapted to new challenges
like Mitigating the delays caused by unforeseen events, and actively sought feedback to improve.

I recognize there are areas for improvement, particularly in Pre construction planning

. I’d appreciate any feedback you have to help me grow further.

Thank you for your time, and I look forward to your thoughts.

Best regards,

Q15. . Document the feedback you received from your manager here. What further thoughts do you
have on the review of your work based on this feedback? Document this here.

I have done a good job on handling challenges throughout the project like mitigating the delays
caused by unforeseen events and always looking for ways to improve myself. I still have to
develop and learn more about pre construction planning since this is one area where I still need
improvements in. But over all I did a good job with this project.
