Identification of Failure Modes:

Identify all the potential failure modes for each component. A failure mode is the way in which a component could fail to perf

Examples of potential failure modes for turbine components include:

Blades: Erosion, fatigue, cracking, foreign object damage.

Rotor: Unbalance, misalignment, cracks, or shaft breakage.
Bearings: Wear, lubrication failure, overheating, seizure.
Seals: Leakage, wear, loss of integrity.
Shaft: Misalignment, bending, cracking.
Control System: Sensor failure, actuator malfunction, software faults.

3. Effect of Failure:

Identify the effects of each failure mode. This should describe what would happen if the failure occurs.

Examples of effects:

Blades: Reduced efficiency, vibrations, catastrophic failure, potential damage to other components.
Rotor: Excessive vibration, loss of performance, system shutdown.
Bearings: Increased friction, wear of adjacent parts, seizure, potential rotor damage.
Seals: Oil or gas leakage, pressure loss, environmental hazard.
Shaft: Misalignment leads to excessive vibration and can cause premature failure of bearings or seals.
a component could fail to perform its intended function.
