Leadership and Communication
Slide 1: Introduction
Leadership is the capability to lead, inspire, and manage individuals or groups towards
achieving shared goals (Paais and Pattiruhu 2020). It involves establishing a vision,
making decisions, and empowering others.
Communication is the process by which information, thoughts, and feelings are
exchanged through verbal, non-verbal, and written methods to ensure that goals and
expectations are clearly understood (Horan et al., 2021).
Thus, leaders and communication act together to provide the base for collaboration,
innovation, and alignment to goals.
Poor or ineffective communication creates a mismatch with disengagement and lack of
leadership.
In trust, teamwork, and shared purpose, effective leadership and communication are the
backbones that make for successful teams.
