An operating system is a software program that is different from the word
processing program and all other software programs on your computer.
It is an example of system software that controls the system hardware and
interacts with user and application software.
It is the master control program.
The operating system ensures the result of your action is display on the
screen.

Operating system can be organized into four major types:

REAL TIME OPERATING SYTEM
A real-time operating system is a very fast and relatively small OS.
Real-time operating systems are mostly embedded systems.
A real-time operating system is needed to run real-time applications.
A real-time application is an application that responds to certain input extremely
quickly.
The uses of RTOS are Medical Devices, RADAR Systems, Aircraft control
systems, and Stock trading applications.

SINGLE-USER/SINGLE-TASKING OS
An operating system that allows a single user to perform one task at a time
is a single-user/single-tasking operating system.
To a user task is a function printing documents, writing files on discs, etc.
To the operating system a task is a process and small and a single can only
manage a single task at a time.
MS-DOS is an example of a single-tasking operating system.
This operating system has limited characteristics.
It requires less space on disk or in memory.
SINGLE-USER/Multi-TASKING OS
A single-user/ multitasking operating system that allows a single user to
perform two or more functions at once.
It takes a special operating system to keep two or more tasks running at
once.
The most commonly used personal computer usually runs such operating
systems including Microsoft Windows.
The multitasking feature of these operating systems has greatly increased
the productivity of people.
MULTI-USER/MULTI-TASKING OS
It is an operating system that allows multiple users to use programs that are
simultaneously running on a single network server, called a terminal server.
This Is not at all the same as connecting to a network server for the sake of
accessing files and printers.
With the multi-user OS which gives each user a complete environment,
called a user session on the server
In a multi-user operating system environment, all or most of the computing
occurs at the server.
Microsoft windows 10 Overview
Windows 10 is the most recent version of the operating system from
Microsoft.
Officially it was released in 2015 and was initially offered free of charge
to legitimate users of Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.
This new version combines features from those two previous
installments to suit the users better for both desktop/laptop computers
and mobile devices.
Microsoft windows 10 Overview
The most notable change in Windows 10 is that Microsoft replaced the
Start screen tiles from Windows 8, and brought back the Start Menu.
They also removed the vertical toolbars (or “charms”) that appeared
from the sides of the screen.
These changes make this Windows version easier to use for users of
both desktop/laptops and mobile devices.
WINDOWS 10 INSTALAITON
There are two approaches you can take for installing Windows 10 in
your computer: Upgrade or a Clean Install.
Typically, when you upgrade your operating system, all your documents
and applications remain unchanged, whereas with a clean install, you
would be starting again from scratch.
But one important thing to verify first is if your computer has the
necessary hardware to support Windows 10.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
Although most computers nowadays probably have the necessary
requirements for Windows 10.
It will certainly be useful to know them in case you want to upgrade
from an older system.
The main requirements are −
▪ A processor (CPU) with a clock rate of at least 1GHz.
▪ At least 1 to 2GB of memory (RAM), but Microsoft recommends 4GB.
▪ At least 16GB space in your hard disk.
Clean install or Reinstall Window
Perform a Clean Install on an Empty Hard Disk/SSD or Reinstall by Booting from
Install Media (DVD or USB Thumb Drive)
Once you have your Windows 10 installation media ready, all you need to do is
boot from the disc or USB thumb drive to begin setup

The Windows logo will appear on screen, this might be here for a while, as long as
you see the animating dots, everything should be ok.

Select your Language, Time and Keyboard method then click Next.

Windows 10 setup will prompt you for a product key during installation a couple
of times.

Setup will also prompt you to select the edition you have a license for -
Home or Pro. Please make sure you choose the right edition. If you choose the
wrong edition, your only option will be to perform a clean install again.

Accept the license terms then click Next

Click Custom: Install Windows only (advanced)

Select the drive then click New

Select the unallocated drive listed, click New, click Apply then OK

This will split the drive into multiple partitions, select the Primary partition then
click Next.

When this phase of setup is complete, Windows will automatically restart then
reboot into setup again.

Windows is detecting and installing your hardware. After this is complete,
Windows will restart one last time.

The Out of Box Experience page is where you get to configure detailed settings in
Windows, which includes creating a user account, configure privacy, sync PC
settings and install modern applications.
