Minimum recommended specifications and the general requirements

for the laptops to be used in center-based exams of ICAP

Item Description
• Only laptops are allowed.
Device
• Minimum specifications of the permissible laptops are defined below.

Processor • Intel Core i3 (6th Generation or later) or equivalent

RAM • OS specified minimum RAM or 8 GB, whichever is higher

• Type: Solid-State Drive (SSD)


Hard disk
• Minimum free space: 20 GB

Display resolution • 1024 x 768

• Windows 10 or above (32-bit or 64-bit)


Operating system (OS)
• Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10 or above (excluding beta versions)

Internet browser • Google Chrome Version 82 or above

• JavaScript must be enabled.


Browser settings • Internet cookies must be enabled.
• Any pop-up blocking setting(s) must be disabled.
• Taking exams on a personal laptop is recommended as office laptops
generally have more restrictions that may prevent successful exam delivery.
• If a strict firewall policy with antivirus on local setup is deployed on the
Firewall laptop to be used for taking the exam, then examinees will need to allow
access to the following URL:
− *.sonet.com.au

• The laptop must have a functional Wi-Fi dual band adapter as

connectivity to the internet will be provided through Wi-Fi access points.

• The battery of the laptop should be fully charged and capable of providing
Power backup power for at least 45 minutes.
• Must bring the laptop’s charger and power cord to the examination hall.
