ARCwizard Introduction and Processing

Prepared by: Nguyen Pham Thien Kim – Petrophysicist

SLB-Private
Operating Principle – Propagation Resistivity

Amplitude
Difference
1. Transmitter builds up an Electro
Magnetic field
Signal at R2
Far Receiver
2. The phase and amplitude of the
Signal at R1
Near Receiver field are measured at the near and
far receivers
Phase Shift
3. Phase shift (PS) and amplitude
T
difference (AD) are taken
4. PS and AD are then converted to
phase and attenuation resistivity
logs

ARCWizard Outputs

▪ Anisotropy: vertical and horizontal resistivities

▪ Borehole enlargement: hole diameter and corrected formation
resistivity
▪ Dielectric Effect: true resistivity and dielectric constant
▪ Invasion: true resistivity, invaded zone resistivity and invasion
diameter
▪ In cases where ARCWizard is unable to distinguish a dominant effect,
additional forward modeling may be necessary, which involves trial-
and-error
