Types and Construction of Transformers
Single-Phase Transformers:
1. Core-Type: Windings surround the laminated core.
2. Shell-Type: Core surrounds the windings for better flux
containment.
3. Berry-Type: Cylindrical design, mostly for low-power
applications.
Three-Phase Transformers:
1. Core-Type: Three limbs with windings on each limb.
2. Shell-Type: Three sets of windings surrounded by laminated cores.

3. : Three single-phase transformers connected in a group (Delta or
Star).

Materials and Construction:
Core: Made of laminated silicon steel to minimize losses.
Windings: Copper or aluminum for high conductivity, insulated
for safety.
Cooling: Air-cooled (dry type) or oil-cooled for better heat
dissipation.
