Critiquing of the Research
1. Writing style
The writing style is with correct grammar, and use of jargon is minimized but is less
organized and the overall style is not as such attractive.
2. Author (s)
The authors’ qualifications and job titles do not directly indicate the researchers’
knowledge of the area under investigation. This is because of the fact that only where
they work is described immediately next to the authors’ name. However in the footnote,
the authors have tried to show that the research news conducted as a part of the second
author’s final dissertation and that the reprints can be obtained from imitate of social and
applied psychology, The University of Canterbury Kent where Dominic Abrams works.
This indirectly through not at first glance, the authors’qualitications can be indicator of
their knowledge of the area under investigation.
3. Report Title
The length of the title is sound enough and it can clearly identify the purpose of the study
for the reader.
4. In the abstract the researchers tried to put the purpose of the study, but not much clearly
to the reader. Sample size and selection not clearly indicated. However, the researchers
pointed out the main flinging and conclusions yet and not recommend.
5. Purpose of the study /Research Problem
In the introduction part, the researchers clearly defined the purpose of the study-the
integration into regular classrooms of cauldron who would formerly have been placed in
special school or classes.
6. Logical consistency
The logical consistency of the research is weak. In the introduction part or in research
purpose section it is intended to integrate regular classrooms of children, but the focus in
other section in cluing methodology, main study,
7. Literature review
Most books used in the literature are of old origin (1970s, 1980s, &1990s).However; it
demonstrated an appropriate depth and breadth of reading around the topic in question.
The literature further is sound since it begins with an introduction which identifies the
key words used to conduct the search and information about which databases were used.
8. Theoretical Framework
The theoretical framework has clearly defined and identified the various concepts being
studied. For example, it raised the educational policy of United States and the United
Kingdom.
9. Aims and objectives/research question/research hypothesis
There is no clear aim of the study which forms a link between the initially stated purpose
of the study or research problem and how the study will be undertaken.
10. Sample and Sample Size
The sample taken should be representative of the population; however the study simply
tells the sample taken without telling the number of population.
11. Ethical Considerations and operational definitions
The researchers used ethical principles and I found the study sound in this parameter.
The researchers also ensured that the readers understand what is meant by the terms and
concepts that are in the research.
12. Methodology
The study has no clear research design. However, it clearly indicated data collection
method employed, that is interview was used. As to the instrument design, the
researchers did not precisely describe whether they have used a previously designed
instrument or developed one for the study being conducted. Concerning the validity and
reliability of the study, the study is valid since the instrument used was able to measure
the concept under study. However, the reliability of the study is low as points described
in one section are not consistently related with the next points.
13. Analysis and Results
The researchers clearly identified the statistical tests undertaken like semantic differential
scales and three-factor ANOVAs.
14. Discussion/Conclusion/recommendations
The discussion of the findings should flow logically from the data and in this study, the
researchers carefully did this. Further, the researchers dealt with each hypothesis and
found that the hypotheses supported the findings.
15. References
The study was concluded with accurate list of all books that were referred to in the work.

Personality and Social Psychology
1. Writing Style
2. Author(s)
The author(s’) qualifications and job title can be a useful indicator into the researcher(s’)
knowledge of the area under investigation, however, in this study there is no such
indicator.
3. Report Title
In its length, the title is neither too long nor too short. However, it does not clearly
identify for the reader the purpose of the study.
4. Abstract
The abstract is supposed to include information regarding the purpose of the study,
method, sample size and selection, the main findings and conclusions and
recommendations. However, these were not indicated in the abstract except the main
findings of study 4.
5. Purpose of the study/research problem
The research problem has been clearly presented to the reader in the introduction to
study-identified who can be incongruent to the category’s stereotype and who are super-
congruent to the category’s stereotype.
6. Logical Consistency
As to the logical consistency, the study is so consistent as there is strong link among
studies 1, 2,3 and 4. Even among sections in each study there is a strong logical
consistency.
7. Literature review
In each of the studies, the sources used as literature are of old origin including the
1960s.Further, there are no sufficient literatures used. It did not also begin with an
introduction which identified the key words.
8. Theoretical framework
There is no frame work for this study. Actually there is no need for all researches to use a
frame work and this can not be seen as a limitation.
9. Aims and objectives/research question/research hypothesis
In each of the four studies, the purposes of the studies formed a good link between the
initially stated purpose of the study and how the study would be undertaken.
10. Sample size and Sample size
18, 53, and 48 and 112 students from one university were taken as a sample in studies
one, two, three and four respectively, without indicating the total population of the study.
Hence, it is difficult to speak about the representativeness of the sample.
11. Ethical consideration
The researchers have followed ethical standards and moral rules. The researchers also
ensured that the readers understand what is meant by the terms and concepts that are in
the research.
12. Methodology
The methodology section of the study in all of the sub-studies is sound. In each case, the
research design is clearly defined. In addition, the methods of data collection and
instrument design have been clearly declared. The validity and reliability of the study are
also good since the instruments used were able to measure what was expected and the
flow of ideas from paragraph to paragraph is consistent.
13. Analysis and results
The results of the study were analyzed using correlation coefficients, regression analysis
and a t test. The analysis is highly reliable with the research question.
14. Discussion/conclusion/recommendations
In this study, the discussion of the findings logically from the data and is highly related
back to the literature review and has placed the study in context. Recommendations given
are also constructive and can be implemented with given potential.
15. References
All the sources used in the study are accurately included in the reference section.
