PROTOTYPING JOURNEY
The purpose of this assignment is to encourage you take action into applying
prototyping to help you make decisions.
Think about a decision that you have been delaying. What is it?
How can you prototype an experience to help you make this decision?
One decision I have been delaying is switching my major. I can prototype an experiment by
running a three day imagination experiment. One of the reasons I have been delaying the
decision making is because I am not completely sure I know which major I want to switch to.

This prototype will help me achieve my decision. If I do enough research, I will be one step
closer to finding out my major.
How do you plan to accomplish this?
I will run the three day experiment with each of my majors I have in mind. Education, I
volunteered at a summer camp for three summers and I now have a part time job in a school
as a preschool assistant and I really enjoy that job and working with kids, I would just have to
do more research. Another major I have in mind is nursing. My mom is a hospice nurse and I
really enjoy watching her do her job as well as the fact that she helps people. When I was
younger and I would go to “take your child to work days” with her I was so happy and I’ve
always said I wanted to be a nurse ever since I was little. The last major I have in mind which
isn’t really a major but more of a program that FIU offers, OT or occupational therapy. I have
already done some research on this major and I really like what I’ve seen so far as well as
how many job opportunities come with being an OT.

If I run three separate three-day experiments, I will soon find out what I want to switch my
major to. My current major is Nutrition but all I know is that I want to switch my major to one
of those three options.
