TOPIC 1: HUMAN RIGHTS
Human rights are certain important things that people are
meant to have.
Rights should be respected by family members and people in
the community.
Countries have laws that make sure that people respect each
other.
Peace is sometimes difficult to get, so sometimes people have
to pay a big price for it.
Countries have made laws that ensure that all people are
treated equally.
There are countries were people once were not treated equally
example South Africa
It is possible that even though we have rights birth, there
times when they are denied or abused even by family members.
Examples , children not provided with food or clothing because
they did something, a child being chased out of class during
lessons, a thief beaten instead of being taken to the police.
Religions protect and respect all people. Religious groups most
times help them sick, poor, orphans and old people. They
provide them with food, blankets, clothes or shelter.
Human rights make people respect others. For example
children are; given food in schools, food at home, they also get
clothes and taken to hospital when they are sick.
People in Botswana are free to elect their political parties, also
to worship religions of their choice.

daily duties without fear of being harmed or killed.
A symbol is a picture of a sign that stands for something.

greet by shaking hands or waving.
As we mix with people who are different, the language we
speak changes
We borrow some words from other languages e.g. the word “go
Bereka” comes from the Afrikaans name ”werk”.
