1.2 Project in accordance with the specifications, approved drawings, and applicable
standards.
2.0 SCOPE
This method statement outlines the procedures and requirements for performing soil
injection (grouting) works for improving the strength, stability, and permeability of
soil. This includes the preparation, execution, monitoring, and post-grouting
evaluation stages of the grouting process.
- The scope of work in soil injection may include several key aspects, such as:
1. Site Study and Geotechnical Analysis: Examining the soil at the site to understand
its type, groundwater conditions, and consistency.
2. Determining Injection Depth and Locations: Identifying where and at what depth
the soil will be injected, based on geotechnical studies.
3. Tools and Techniques Used: Selecting the right injection tools, such as injection
pumps, and determining the appropriate technique (e.g., cement injection or chemical
grouting).
4. Monitoring and Performance Follow-up: After the injection process, tests are
conducted to monitor the effectiveness of the injection and the improvement of the
soil's properties.

4.1 Excavation: means any man-made cut, cavity, trench, or depression in an earth
surface, formed by earth removal.
4.2 Faces or Sides: means the vertical or inclined earth surfaces formed as a result of
excavation work.
4.3 Failure: means the breakage, displacement, or permanent deformation of a
structural member or connection s as to reduce its structural
integrity and its supportive capabilities.
4.4 Kick out: means the accidental release or failure of a cross brace.
4.5 Protective system: means a method of protecting employees from cave-ins, from
material that could fall or roll from an excavation face or into an
excavation, or from the collapse of adjacent structures.
Protective systems include support systems, sloping and
benching systems, shield systems, and other systems that provide
the necessary protection.
4.6 Sheeting: means the members of a shoring system that retain the earth in
position and in turn are supported by other members of the
shoring system.
4.7 Shield (Shield system): means a structure that is able to withstand the forces imposed
on it by a cave-in and thereby protect employees within the
structure. Shields can be permanent structures or can be designed
to be portable and moved along as work progresses. Additionally,
shields can be either pre-manufactured or job-built in accordance
with a detailed design that is prepared by the Contractor and
approved by the Engineer. Shields used in trenches are usually
referred to as "trench boxes" or "trench shields."
4.8 Shoring (Shoring system): means a structure such as a metal hydraulic, mechanical
or timber shoring system that supports the sides of an excavation
and which is designed to prevent cave-ins.
4.9 Sloping (Sloping system): means a method of protecting employees from cave-ins
by excavating to form sides of an excavation that are inclined
away from the excavation so as to prevent cave-ins. The angle
incline required to prevent a cave-in varies with differences in
such factors as the soil type, environmental conditions of
exposure, and application of surcharge loads.

4.11 Trench: means a narrow excavation (in relation to its length) made below
the surface of the ground. In general, the depth is greater than the
width, but the width of a trench (measured at the bottom) is not
greater than 15 feet (4.6 m). If forms or other structures are
installed or constructed in an excavation so as to reduce the
dimension measured from the forms or structure to the side of the
excavation to 15 feet (4.6 m) or less (measured at the bottom of
the excavation), the excavation is considered to be a trench.
4.12 Underground installations: mean the estimated location of utility installations, such
as sewer, telephone, fuel, electric, water lines, or any other
underground installations that reasonably may be expected to be
encountered during excavation work, shall be determined prior to
opening an excavation.
4.13 The Client : Refers to Jeddah Municipality, the owner of the project.
4.14 The Engineer : Refer to the organization that is appointed by Jeddah
Municipality to review all submittals, drawings…etc., and
supervise the construction and all the site works, referring to
Louis Berger (LB).
4.15 The Contractor (AJ): means the organization that is appointed by Jeddah
Municipality to construct the project(s) as per the signed Contract,
referring to Abuljadayel Co. for Contracting & Maintenance
LTD.
5.0 RESPONSIBILITY
5.1 The project manager has overall responsibility for the implementation of this project
procedure. Specific responsibilities have been assigned to members of the project

7. PROCEDURES
7.1 Temporary Diversion of Water Ingress
7.1.1 Preparation
Site Preparation
The minor affected area on the inner side of diaphragm wall joints or water leaky
concrete area will be thoroughly cleaned in order to expose the extent of the opening.
7.1.2 Application
22mm diameter holes will be drilled into the affected area with at the vertical or
horizontal spacing of approximately 500mm each. These spacing may vary according
to the vertical or horizontal extent of the affected area.
Grouting hoses of dimensions 21mm diameter by 600mm length, will be inserted into
the performed holes and the annulus sealed. The water will be diverted through the
grouting hoses.
The items of equipment necessary to execute this procedure are as the follows:
7.2.1 Preparation
After this ingress water successfully diverted through the grouting hoses, the affected
area of diaphragm wall joints water leaky concrete area will be patched and repaired.

STATEMENT JSW-AJ-OMRD-MST-CI-0013
(Grouting Injection) METHOD STATEMENT
The points for the vertical grouting holes which are required will be at the outside
the diaphragm wall working platform and the outer surface of the diaphragm panel
joint or panel location.
First Step
Each Borehole will be drilled down to required depth given to using drilling Rig, Drill rods and
Drill bits with dia 80-110mm Flushing fluid (low w/c mixture) is pumped from injection pump
through the Flushing head and the drill rods The pressure will be max 30-40 bar.
During the drilling, the verticality and pump pressure should be fully under control and any
deviation changes must be avoided.
Existing cavities can be encountered.
The pressure grouting will start from the bottom of borehole up to required grouting top level.
Second Step
Depending on the required thickness of grouting columns, the cutting of soil with following
injection of the grout (grout mix w/c max1:1, normal 100Kg of cement to 50liters of water)
will start by injection with approx. between 200-300 bar. The grout is going to be injected
at high velocity, which enables the grouting process to destroy the natural matrix of the soil
and creates a mixing of the grout with in situ soils.
The matrix of the soil is cut, mixed and filled.
To reach a longer range of the cutting, the two phase’s system is supported by air covering
of the jet stream.
After the injection of the required thickness and area, the process of grouting is finalized.
The rig has to be shifted to the next location (the sequence of the grouting will be followed:
1st hole finish after shifting 2.8 meter to the next hole then go back to the 2nd hole and the
procedure will start again.
