COURSE OBJECTIVES:

The Student will understand the basic Statistical concepts and terminology involved in
statistics, linear correlation, linear regression and time series. The course focuses on how to
interpret statistical, how to evaluate it and estimate it and to develop simple statistical models
from a business perspective.

PRE – REQUISITE:

To study basic statistics, correlation, regression, and time series, one should have a
foundational understanding of algebra and arithmetic.
Students must have a critical thinking mindset to understand data.

CO-REQUISITE:
While studying basic statistics, correlation, regression, and time series, it is beneficial
to study linear algebra and calculus to understand the mathematical underpinnings of
these concepts.
Engaging in real-world data analysis projects can enhance learning by providing
practical experience.

COURSE OUTCOMES:

After learning basic statistics, correlation, regression, and time series, students will be
able to analyze and interpret data effectively.
They will gain the skills to identify relationships between variables, predict outcomes
using regression models, and understand patterns over time through time series
analysis.
These competencies are essential for making informed decisions based on data in
various fields such as business, economics, and social sciences

MODE OF EVALUATION
Evaluation will be divided in two parts.
External: Semester End Examination will be conducted by the Gujarat University of
50 Marks
Internal: Internal Evaluation of 50 marks will be decided by the Colleges / Institutes /
University departments as per the instruction given by the University time
to time.

mode.
