2. 12 and -14 = 26 4. 9 and -19 = 28
5. 21 and 5 = 16
MOTIVATION:
Direction: In a group of 6 members, plot the following points on a manila paper and connect the points to form
figures.

F. (-4, 6) L. (-4,-6)
DISCUSSION:
Distance Formula
The Distance Formula is an equation that can be used to find the distance
between any pair of points on the coordinate plane.
To find the distance between AC, AC is parallel to the x-axis,
distance can be determined using 𝑑 = |x2 – 𝑥1|
BC is parallel to the y-axis,distance can be
determined
using 𝑑 = |𝑦2 – 𝑦1|
To find the distance of AB,consider that ∆𝐴𝐵𝐶 is a right
triangle, with ∠𝐶 as a right angle.
Recalling the Pythagorean theorem:
APPLICATION:
Find the distance between two points.
1. 𝐻(2, 3) 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝐽(14, 8)
2. 𝐹(−2, 3) 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝐺(−10, 3)
3. 𝐾(4, −3) 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝐿(−7, −6 )
EVALUATION:
FIND THE DISTANCE BETWEEN TWO POINTS
1. P(-4,3) andQ(2,3) PQ = 6
2. R(3,5) and S(3,-2) RS = 7
3.A(-3,-2) and B(1,4) AB = 2 √ 13
4. C(-5,5) and D(-1,-5) CD = √ 116
5. E(-3,2) and F(1,-2) EF = 4√ 2
