(i) A man invests `3960 in shares of a company which pays 15% dividend at a time when a `25 share costs
`33. Find :
(i) The number of shares he bought.
(ii) The annual income from his shares.
(iii) The rate of interest which he gets on his investment.

(ii) A circle with centre O , diameter AB and a chord AD si drawn. Another circle is drawn with AO as
diameter to cut AD at C . Prove that BD = 20C .

(iii) The table shows the distribution of the scores obtained by 160 shooters in a shooting competition. Use a
graph and draw an ogive for the distribution.
(Take 2 cm = 10 scores on the x-axis and 2 cm = 20 shooters on the y-axis).

(i) How many seats are in the 10th row?
(ii) How many seats are in the 25th row?
(ii) If there is room for 25 rows, how many chairs will be needed to set up the theatre?

(iii) The weekly observation on cost of living index in a certain city for a particular year are given below.

(i) A line passes through the point P ^2, 3h and meets the coordinates axes at the points A and B (as shown
in the adjoining figure).

If 2PA = 3PB, find


(i) The coordinates of A and B.
(ii) The equation of the line AB.

(ii) From the top of a tower 100 m high a man observes the angles of depression of two ships A and B, on
opposite sides of the tower as 45cand 38c respectively. If the foot of the tower and the ships are in the same
horizontal line find the distance between the two ships A and B to the nearest meter.
(Use Mathematical Tables for this question.)

(i) What quantity must be added to each term of the ratio (a + 2b) : (a - 2b) to make it equal to the duplicate
ratio of (a + b) : (a - b)?

(ii) Two taps running together can fill a tank in 3 131 hours. If one tap takes 3 hours more than the other to fill
the tank, then how much time will each tap take to fill the tank?

(iii) Draw a ∆PQR such that QR = 7 cm, PQR = 45° and PQ − PR = 1.8 cm. Find a point O such that it is
equidistant from PQ, QR and PR.

(i) Check whether ^p + 1h is a factor of ^p100 - 1h and ^p101 - 1h .

(ii) Sixteen cards are labelled as a , b , c , ..., m , n , o , p . They are put in a box and shuffled. A boy is assumed
to draw a card the box. What is the probability that the card drawn is
(i) a vowel?
(ii) a consonant?
(iii) none of the letters of the word median?

(iii) Use graph paper for this question. The point A (2, 3), B (4, 5) and C (7, 2) are the vertices’s of TABC .
(i) Write down the coordinates of Al, Bl, Cl, if AlBlC l are the images of TABC , when reflected in the
origin.
(ii) Write down the coordinates of Am, Bm, C m, if Am B m C m are the images of TABC , when reflected in the
X -axis.
(iii) Mention the special name of the quadrilateral BCC m B m and find its area.
